New Comps Can't Wear Cosmetic Gear???

Love it how most people in this thread against customization options are positive that the only thing people would put on their comps would be a bikini.

Internet your lack of faith disappoints me.

All I want is to give Theron a new jacket over that thing he's been wearing for 5 years strait.

What made Origin stories superior to KotFE/ET? All 8 story characters could co-exist.

I matured past the bikini phase a while ago...mostly.

As shallow as this is to say, I was really looking forward to putting her in a bikini to have some eye candy while I played. Why would Bioware not allow us to customize the look of her with gear of our choice, instead of her frankly ugly default outfit?
In two large, active guilds all my characters are in, this is by far and away the biggest complaint everyone was with this expansion.

A few snivelled early on about difficulty, but then we all started doing HM's and ops and I haven't heard a peep about that since.

There are a few grumbles often enough about crafting changes, but mostly of the 'they moved my cheese meh' variety.

But this? In both guilds, it's kind've a serious gripe.

And I agree with the root of it.

Why the heck can't we customize them?

Why was a static appearance decided upon, because you can bet it didn't happen by accident. This was a design decision. An actively made decision, by at least several people, and then approved by yet more.

Whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyy?

It doesn't bother me as much as it does plenty of my guild mates, as I've always pretty much just stuck whatever gave companions the most pluses on then irrespective of what it looked like.

I would usually get a huge kick out of my companions looking like complete tools that's been dipped in glue and rolled down a hill covered in random armor.

Big on caring about what they looked like... I was not.

But that doesn't mean I'm happy about not being able to play dress up with them either, ESPECIALLY now that I WOULD!

I mean, no more worrying about what gives them the most pluses, right?

I could've had some fun dressing then all up now.

Alas. Doesn't seem to be in the cards.

Why? No idea. But she does and it has come up in the story already.
I suppose getting a lyrium tattoo of breasts on my chest would make things better...

There has been several posts along the lines of changed crystals to the Mainhand of certain companions. how, for example, if you change Lana Beniko's saber crystal to a Purple, it will retain Red during scenes. It is possible that the writers have made so that in the story the character has a specific weapon and color, but roaming, it is player specific. Perhaps we will see alot more regarding this in the future.

I'm hoping that Chapters 1-9 were only a little taste... maybe customization for companions like Lana and Theron will be introduced in the next installment.

I was thinking a lot of the new companions don't have the basic 4 body types. So you can't use custom gear because matching the basic-4 gear to anything new would cause clipping or otherwise look bad.

Just look at Lana and Senya. I'm convinced they don't have any of the current body types used in the game for players.

Bioware could release whole-body customizations though: whole outfits that only work on Lana, etc.

To a dangerous place, this line of thinking could take us. That's just the illusion of customization. We should be able to outfit them as we see fit, just like classic companions.
