Is it even possible for Darth Nox to die since he/She is bound to life and death by the ghosts?

Good question.

DNA changed to resist toxic waste/radiation. Absorb up to 5 ghosts, entire physical being rewritten at the atomic level, again body rewritten at atomic level 3(4?) more times on Rishi. Life extended multiple solar cycles. Now to figure out how long that solar cycle actually is and based on what system/world for that solar cycle.

I think killing Nox may be near impossible.

Hero of Tython vs Nox would probably be like the duel in Highlander with the noble.

Start at 1:10 :D

Then Hero of Tython ends up on the Maury Show - When good Jedi go bad.

Extending your life span =/= Invincibility. You can extend your lifepsan by 1000 years but that only matters when it comes to aging. A bullet in the head would still end you regardless how long you can potentially live. The ghosts brought him back because he was tied to them but that only mattered because he had a body to come back to. Removing Nox's head would probably eliminate him. Evidence? Drahg. Drahg's life was tied to the entity and this is why as the sith warrior everytime you "killed him" he kept coming back. Even when you knocked him in fire to burn him.

Drahg even told you he couldn't die and would keep fighting you until he wore you down. When the wrath learns of this, after defeating Drahg one last time, he beheads him. Even being tied to the entity (which is a force ghost) it still finished him off. Yes he had his body remade but not so that it was physically tougher than a normal body but it was re-made to be able to withstand the strain of the force spirits. Now people might hate this word but to me it sounds like it boosted his midichlorian count. Which of course would make him more powerful.

Highlander is a good reference. That being said.. Equal fight.

Knight would probably win by virtue of having a higher concentration of plot-tanium in his breakfast cereal.

But if we exclude that and the "they're all equal" answer, which has some merit, but sometimes feels like a bit of a cop out, then I'd give it to Nox.

People seem to forget that Nox isn't constantly drawing on the ghosts' power. He only draws off them in a couple of cutscenes, like when he almost ripped his own body apart or when he decided to completely humiliate Thanaton. If we're talking in-universe characters, not in-game characters, Nox always has an ace up his sleeve in case sh*t hits the fan.

I think Nox would win. She has just so much power... So much... UNLIMITED POWAH!

But seriously, you can't exactly deflect lightning with a lightsaber, and Nox can augment that lightning with the power of the 5 ghosts she swallowed, making it that much stronger and harder to keep in check. I believe that if the Knight can't close the gap or catch Nox by surprise, she'd probably get vaporized in seconds.

I say the Knight because the Knight has a knack for defeating opponents that are much stronger, and there does indeed seem to be a groundswell of destiny about the character. And while you might not technically be able to deflect lightning in-game, you can totally stop that stuff with a lightsaber in-setting.

Isn't one of the Knight's abilities, the ability to deflect all range attacks for three seconds? I could swear that was an ability on my Warrior I just finished Ziost with.

The Inquisitor PC is said to attract the ghosts of the death, that certainly has the ring of prophecy and destiny about it. They also know intuitively(/) how to join these ghosts with the Force - something the Jedi on Taris were quite unable to do.

They each have there unique talents.

Not as spectacular as, but similar to Satele Shan, the Inquisitor PC stops a Darth charging at them with lightsaber, without using their own.

These are all enjoyable story moments, not really directly comparable feats of power.

The Hero of Tython.

The Jedi Knight successfully solo'd the Emperor, the most powerful force user in the game from a story perspective. Darth Nox might be powerful, but he/she is not the Emperor. The safe money would not be on Darth Nox.

The Wrath would probably be a better matchup, since both the Jedi Knight and the Wrath are supposed to be the supreme duelists of their respective orders by the time their class stories wrap up. The Jedi Knight may even be the best duelist from a story perspective from either faction, considering the strength of the opposition he/she downed.

Probably? I haven't played the game in quite a while, and only recently re-subbed in preparation for the coming expansion. Huh...I say the rest of that as though it isn't obvious...

I do know that when you pop one particular CD for the jugg/guard they get damage reduction, and it's a saber-defense-ish ability.

This is true to a point, but the knight is the only one with a true galaxy-changing destiny. The knight is pretty much Anakin Skywalker. The knight is the dragonslayer, a killer of a creature much, much more powerful than itself. Nox is literally the kind of individual that the Jedi knight is born to kill.

In a way you're saying Nox is more powerful but the Hero of Tython would win a direct confrontation because they're destined to do so. I kinda like that.

Could we put that statement in neon and frame it in platinum so that it can be shown whenever these power discussions pop up?

lol, sure. :)

One thing I always like to point out in these vs. threads is that it's not always the most powerful who wins. Sometimes it's the meaner, nastier, or sneakier person who wins. That one guy who is 90 lbs. soaking wet and mewling whenever you mock him might also be the guy who plants a bomb in your car or something. (Please no one interpret that as a threat, it was meant as an example of how a weak, untrained person might triumph over a stronger, more capable combatant.) A good Star Wars example of this is actually in Shatterpoint.

When Mace Windu confronts the main villain in round 2 near the end of the book, he acknowledges his previous loss, the villain asks Mace what he plans on doing since he lost before, Mace basically says, "I'm not going to fight you. I'd lose that fight, every time. Instead, I'm just going to murder you. Then he basically force pulls a sharp metal object from behind into the guy's head. It's actually one of the coolest moments in the expanded universe when you're actually reading it.

I don't think the Knight could defeat Nox. If we ignore the obvious plot armor that the Hero of Tython would have, then Nox is just to much of a power house.

Also the Knight didn't defeat the Emperor...he defeated the voice of the Emperor two very very different things.

Keep in mind, most powerful doesn't always win.

I was under the impression that

the person you kill at the end of the JK class story was in fact the actual emperor. I just thought his spirit survived to spread further mischief, much like EU Sidious.

Is that inaccurate? And if it is, can you provide me with a general idea of where to look in the content that confirms it's the Voice?

Sith Warrior story ending. The mail directly states that the Jedi Council believes the Emperor to be defeated but it was only the voice.

Also the Jedi Knight is just as powerful as Nox. No idea why people think the Jedi Knight isn't. The Jedi Knight focuses their force mastery and power into strengthening themselves and their body. This doesn't make them weaker than someone who uses outward displays of power. It's like Windu. Windu is not weak with the force as he's very powerful and his only rival by the end of the clone wars is Yoda/Sidious which is confirmed by George Lucas himself.

As for the "You can't deflect lightning with a lightsaber." Yes you can. Windu does it against Sidious. Obi Wan with Dooku. Also in the warrior story (who is every bit the Jedi Knight's equal) he does do something we have never even seen in the EU. He blocks Darth Baras lightning and then pushes forward with his lightsaber and "flings" it back on him. Shocking Baras with his own lightning. So the ability to "Deflect all ranged attacks." is canon as the warrior does it directly to Baras lightning.

For the whole "The Jedi Knight has to get in close.." Nope. Force Exauhstion which is essentially the Knight's version of force crush, heavy telekinetic power (such as when you use the dark side option and you drop a stalagmite on the voice), and he can release blasts of light energy (similar to the warrior who can release blasts of dark energy). To explain why this is such a big deal one of Exar Kun's most fearsome powers is the ability to channel dark side blasts as devastating attacks. Except Exar Kun used a gauntlet to achieve this both the warrior and knight can do this without such tools.

You're told throughout the story as the Jedi Knight and Warrior that you're the strongest Jedi/Sith in generations. So many people awe at your magnificent power. To think the Knight and Warrior isn't "powerful" is folly. The inquisitor started OUT weak. The power of the ghosts give him the power to take on the strongest sith/jedi. Essentially the warrior and knight already had such power. Nox has a unique ability that gives him the means to catch up to anyone. So his potential is just as limited as the classes mentioned.

It's the classic prodigy vs hard work debate. The Knight/Warrior were simply blessed with power. They were born powerful with great destinies and the means to excel. Nox on the other hand learned a power to eat ghosts in order to make him stronger. Oh, but then his body couldn't contain it. So he went and sought out a way to make his body stronger so he could. Then his mind wasn't strong enough. So he did that as well. Nox is a story about survival and how his tenacious ability to not give up when outmatched gives him the capabilities to do anything.

I remember the email...are we sure that the sender of the email is telling the truth though?

I mean, everything about that encounter with Vitiate led me to believe it was Vitiate. The Voice, if that's who it was, was taking some extreme liberties with Vitiate's authority and identity, and when he died, well, there were effects from that the like of which I've only seen when Palpatine was killed in RotJ. I mean, we even know that Vitiate's spirit is floating around disembodied after that. How did that happen if not his bodily death? Even Darth Marr brings up the holo of Saresh and says that the Republic has finally uncovered a truth which we might have long suspected...or something to that effect. Is Marr just misinformed/lying? Or is the author of that email misinformed/lying? I mean, we know for a fact the emperor is in fact dead. Is it something else that killed him? Because he has definitely achieved poltergeist status by Shadows of Revan.

Also confirmed by Lucas in the AotC dvd commentary is that the dark side of the Force is in fact stronger than the light, and that is one of the primary reasons why I think Nox is stronger. I'm perfectly aware that a Jedi's strength flows from the Force, whether they're saber-swingers or object-chuckers, but the same is true for the Sith, and the dark side will straight-up give them more power, as per Lucas and observable content.

I don't see why people think closing with Nox would be such a challenge. Jedi guardians...excuse me, "knights," are trained specialists in doing exactly that. They can leap across vast distances in an eye-blink and run fast enough to be barely trackable by the human eye. We see examples of this in the actual movies.

Well, Nox started out with potential. Definitely average in current ability, but with a lot of room for upward growth. The Sith Warrior and the Jedi Knight are their factions' respective champions of ultimate destiny. One pretty much functions as Anakin did when he was dark, and the other pretty much functions as Anakin was meant to assuming he didn't turn to the dark side.

Pretty cool right? :) And I see so much hate for the SI story all the time...I thought it was pretty good, except for the last portion of the third chapter.

If you've been following up on KOTFE

Vitiate is Valkorion.

As for what you said yeah I love the inquisitor storyline. I just can make a case for each of the classes to be the most powerful which is why I don't think they're the strongest. I will say this.. I don't think it'll be that hard to close against Nox but Nox isn't the crappy duelist many thinks he is. Is he equal in swordplay with the warrior or knight? Of course not but Nox is incredibly powerful in the force which means that he's going to be fast as well (the stronger you are the faster.) also people think he can't use a lightsaber which is false as well. He uses the Niman style. We know this because it's a style that's described as using the lightsaber to deflect attacks while your main weapon is using the force in conjunction with the lightsaber. So you attack with the force and defend with a saber and only use the saber for offense when an opening presents itself.

It's not a very popular among Jedi/Sith but we've seen practitioners of it in the lore. So Nox is very adept at being able to fight using the force and probably can pull off techniques in melee range but again this is why I think they're all equal. Also all the characters have proven adept at killing people stronger than them.

He uses Niman? sweet. I always kinda rp in my head that my assassin uses niaman and Makashi.

It never outright states it but it's kind of obvious if you go by the niman descriptions. Whether for single saber or double bladed saber. Channeling force techniques into the double bladed saber for attacks is very Niman. Exar Kun did the same thing and he was a notable niman practitioner. Using a single saber for defense while you unleash a powerful force assault is very Niman as well. Two different applications of the same style. Niman can be a fearsome style but the problem is it only works if you're sufficiently strong in the force so most Jedi and Sith don't adopt it.

Another flaw of Niman is that if your opponent is much stronger than you and capable of resisting your force techniques while being an incredible duelist themselves.. you're kind of screwed. More martial styles are better suited at allowing you to stand a chance against a more powerful opponent. On the other hand.. someone who is studying a more martial style and could potentially take you on with enough skill may simply get overwhelmed by your mastery of force techniques not giving them a chance. It's very adept at simply bulldozing down others who aren't "up to your level." Niman <3
