THANK YOU!

Very possibly it could have been a waste of time. We won't know until they release more information. The less time I end up wasting the better.

should they have told us everything so we can plan from day one of the expansion announcement? how much should they have told us and when?
That's certainly debatable, but I feel that at least a month is certainly reasonable.

point of the original argument was needing to plan for something potentially happening in a month and they haven't currently told us (much).

so how much and when? I don't think all that information is necessary this far in advance all it will do (as I have said previously) is open the doors for them to get blasted for any changes and upset the apple cart.
Well first of all, no, that's not all it will do. I've already mentioned a couple of things specifically. And secondly, if people don't like the change they'll complain just as much later so what difference does it make in that regard? Do they have so little faith in their own changes that they would wait to give us information until the last minute just to shield themselves from criticism? Why would you make changes that you know are bad?

if what you say is true, current mats will have value, if what I say is true, current mats will have value as they will get replaced (not simply deleted). If you're wrong mats will just have less value. if i'm wrong everyone will be in the same boat anyway and have things will be problematic for a week or two at most.
Thank you for pedantically reminding me that less value != no value, but that still doesn't mean it's worth my time to gather them.

I would guess we'll find out more eventually, just not at this time, let them get through the class blogs and you'll probably get more information on other areas.
Waiting until they finish the class blogs puts us at 2.5 weeks away from the expansion.

Pretty much agree with all of this.
Even though we don't NEED to know what changes are coming it would certainly be beneficial to all and would save on any extra time and/or credits put into areas that may soon cease to matter or exist.

I personally believe they are better off announcing things and ignoring the fall out as they always do if it means even a few people aren't left out of pocket by upcoming changes because they can plan accordingly.
Besides, we the community usually debate these things out - it is very rare there is a change that everyone is unanimously against and it could even give them some room to make a slight change if it becomes obvious they've made a major area in their decision making process ( such as conquest heh :P )

When it was 2 months out I didn't really think we should have too much information around those sorts of changes because it could have quite a drastic, early affect on the economy. However I think from here on out after announcing the conquest crafting changes then all cards should be put on the table in regards to mats/crafting etc. Because even though it will have an effect on the economy now, it is still only a months worth and it's better getting it over and done with now than during the go live period ( including the inevitable complaints which I'll happily be part of if warranted like the conquest changes ).

If you thought the game has ever truly been a waste of time, you would not play it.

If your time really is that valuable, you should not be playing a computer game.

Apparently that's everyone but you, since reminders to remain on topic are not on topic, unless the thread is about reminders to remain on topic.

People have been asking how companions will be effected and if it is worth getting them upto max affection. Since max affection does have effect on your current story and on crafting/companion effectiveness, regardless of will happen in the future it still holds value now.
I see your point, and counter that I am 100% the opposite. The day I found out 4.0 was coming, I stopped spending a single credit or comm on level 60 gear. I knew that I would not get enough usage out of it in 2 months to be worth the expenditure. Now, I didn't say stop using stims that would be excessive since they cost a trivial amount. But my time is way too valuable to spend buying items in game that I would only enjoy for a few weeks.

Secondly, I have not used one companion gift since companion changes were announced. If I knew the mechanics of how many companions we can recruit, whether max affection makes it significantly easier to recruit them then I would go ahead and start playing the companion affection game again. But now, it's simply on pause.

Crafting, I've been stockpiling figuring at worst I'll use it for conquests. But I have been extremely casual about it because I can't get excited since I know almost nothing about crafting in 4.0.
Thinking about subbing? Use this link to help us both out http://www.swtor.com/r/3txb7F

Personally, I do feel it is fairly important for us to know what the details of leveling will be like in the expansion. Will XP on class missions be similar to what they are now? Will side missions/planetary missions be losing most of their XP in exchange for more credits/commendations to help gear up while leveling up?

Right now I'm just stocking up on credits, commendations, and making sure all the professions on the characters I got to 60 are maxed out with some materials set aside to get a few points leveling them up immediately when the expansions is released.
