While it's not the best story (personally the SW tops my list), it certainly wasn't the worst (stares at my trooper who's been lvl 32 since December). Give it a shot.....you might like it!

Btw....my fav list would be.. (And I mainly play male characters)
1. Warrior
2. Smuggler
3. Inquisitor
4. Jk
5. Agent
6. Consular
7. BH
8. Trooper
I definitely love the Warrior story. Twisting a jedi to the dark side. You even get to exploit "weaknesses" in the jedi code and can use it to taunt some of them, revealing their dark side they have hidden. Inquisitor has a little bit of that as well but not as much. Inquisitor for me is my favorite male voice.

I would say for the Inquisitor and Warrior, maybe not my favorite "story" but I love the character development and how the options I had that just felt right while being so wrong. With the next expansion focusing on story, I might abandon my main smugglers and agents to play just those characters for the story part.

I guess to the point of the OP; I still hate the voice of the male character and just did not get that connection. Maybe one day I will try a female character.

To illustrate how subjective this point is: Jedi Consular is my favorite voice ... male or female ... in the game. I find the female Consular voice so ... bland. A friend with whom I play has a Shadow and when she wins the dialogue roulette, that voice ... ugh! No emotion; hardly any inflection. SCORPIO speaks with more emotion than a female Consular.

My point was that it's all a matter of opinion and, hence, there is no "right" or "wrong". Leave my puppy kicking out of the discussion.

actualy. a flirt or two shouldn't lock you into relationship. you should be able to flirt just to see if you like something and then have an option to say "no thank you" before it goes to the point of no return. some romances have that. some... not as much.

moreover... early bioware games? didn't have those oh so helpful "flirt" notifications. and early flirts (just like in real life) could be subtle enough to think you were just being friendly, all the while npc is thinking you are flirting with them. original Mass Effect and Dragon age origins had that problem a LOT.

so don't dismiss those complaints quite yet.

personal experiences. flirted with Vette ONCE when I just got her - it was a nice light option that fit the character and implied no lifelong commitment. every conversation thereafter? never picked another flirt. flirted with Jaessa and next thing I know, jealous confrontation from Vette :/ and then there are ever present bugs where companions send you letters as if you are in relationship, even though you took an option that actualy said that it would end aforementioned relationship. and lets not forget the very wonderful "flirt/flirt/be an ******e" choices bioware seems to be fond off. why do I have to be an ******e if I want to break up with someone. you CAN breka up with someone without being a dick about it, you know. well.. in real life anyways. bioware romance mechanics can be pretty damn wonky, so... its not just people minmaxing without looking or whatever.

its definitely very subjective. but... i will maintain that especially for lightside options (but for many neutral ones as well) the direction that was given to the actors was "sound serene to the point of sounding a little drugged or something" and it has GOT to be direction, becasue all four jedi actors are perfectly capable of expressing emotion through voice. they have got to have been told to leave emotion out of it. "there's no emotion, only peace" stupid jedi code....

The Consular can also quite effectively epitomize Good Is Not Nice- they'll save your planet, sure, but they'll make it quite plain what an idiot they think you are while doing it, and remark a such in tones of withering sarcasm.

Probably the most fun thing about the class is that their main weapon isn't a lightsaber- whether they've used their superlative communion with the Force to gain mastery of combat with the dangerous and complex dual bladed version or whether their ability to use the Force itself has become so profound that the saber has become a mere symbolic weapon for them. It isn't even the Force; their greatest weapon is the brain.

And I will maintain that, when I hear the male Consular speak, I hear a sense of calm and serenity, yes. As I expect from a venerable font of wisdom. When I hear the female Consular speak, I hear the voice of some vacuous salesgirl at the mall who doesn't really care whether I buy that sweater and is just going through the (possibly drug-induced) motions.

My most persistently true quote as a Sage in SWTOR: "If I'm using my light saber to hurt someone, our plan has failed miserably."

Actually in all seriousness, my problem with consular is not the story itself... The story would be fine if my class was politician and not sage/shadow...
OK fine... I'll post my referral link in protest.

With skills such as political maneuver (force speed), fling poo (hurl rocks), untouchable (force barrier), lies and deception (force lift)... ok well someone more clever than I could probably correlate all the other skills to a politician class.
