Now, now... let's not go overboard.

There's plenty of homeless people who could use those houses...

Harsh, but acceptable.

Yes that is exaggerated, but so is the perma ban mentality. Just stop. Equal punishment for equal crime. Knock off the witch hunt.
Economic sabotage has long been the worst "crime" you can commit in-world in a MMO. It's disruptive to everyone on the server and it is extremely difficult to remove.

So MMOs tend to give accounts that do it the death penalty.

"Do not do this."

"I repeat, do not do this."

"Please, by all means, do not do it. Actions will be taken."

"Once more, to be very clear, do not do it, otherwise punishment will be severe."

But they did it.

Goodbye. I won't share one tear for any of them.

Pretty Much this^

If you do something even after being told not to multiple times then you deserve whatever you get end of story/

Why should I be punished with a rollback because other players knowingly and willingly used an exploit that harms the economy of the game?

You are GD right that anyone who abused this exploit should be hit with a permaban. Heck BW even came out right away this time and said not to use the exploit or you will be punished. Those who ignored all warnings have no place in this game and should be perma-banned right now.

2: your comparison of killing someone is not exactly fair. But let's roll with the "punishment should fit the crime" thought. Let's say someone embezzles from their employer. Should they not get fired from the company in your opinion? Should they just get, say, a 7 day suspension from the job and then come back as if nothing happened?
3: There's no witch hunt. The people on the forums are not the ones banning people here. Bioware has clear proof of who did what and is simply punishing those who broke the rules (after being told not to break the rules on several different mediums, including the launcher, so there's no excuse to not knowing about it).
1. Agreed. We're all adults here, or at least should be acting like one. I agree that offenders should take personal responsibility for their actions. They were informed straight away that this was not acceptable, and it's just foolish to continue. There is no excuse for any occurrences once they were informed. Action should be taken upon those.
2. I purposefully exaggerated in order to draw contrast to the other side of the argument. My entire point was that the punishment should fit the crime. Perma banning should only be dealt out in instances that warrant it.
3. I think there is a witch hunt mentality of some posters here. It's always funny (and this happens often) when there is an announced exploit, or even perceived bug, how many people get caught up in the "I want to know who did it so we can publicly humiliate them and perma ban them so an example can be made of them", which is roughly a witch hunt, or at least a "point and laugh". I don't think BW thinks this way at all. It's just laughable at those who do. Be reasonable folks <--which is all I'm really trying to say.
