So far, Knights of the Fallen Empire is promising exactly what I want. Whether that fits the majority opinion or not, I'm not qualified to say.
I still miss 1990s FMV. I miss Wing Commander 3-4. I actually don't want a game. I’d prefer CYOA interactive movies any day. Until then, video games are the closest I can get...

I don't waste time complaining about what something isn't, I am interesting in what it is.

If they make it great for what it is then that will be enough for me.

It is exactly what I want to. No doubts from me about anything.

There are people on the internet who will pay for a game just to troll other players. They usually don't actually do any content, just sit around in the main hub or on the forums whining about how bad their game is, and how <insert game here> is so much better and how they are leaving to go play their dream game. Couple months later, they are still there trolling and saying they will unsub. Sort of reminds me of those guys who say they will not watch X, but are the first ones in line to see it.

In case you haven't noticed nobody has tried to copy SWG....why? Because it was never that good...

So story is made a priority rather than PvP, it seems.
Maybe PvPers aren't rated as much as PvEers by EA/BW. Still want their money though.

What does this have to do with anything said?

You went off-topic on your own thread? You know, I'm not a regular here but even I see you are not woth the time to listen to.

Is this what the community wants?
First of all... nothing like NGE.

Star Wars Galaxy was my forst paid subscription MMO experience (prior to that I'd dabbled in Guild Wars a little). I picked up my months sub with the box purchase two weeks before NGE launched.
NGE stripped out the character skills system replacing it with a set class and stuck a lame tutorial (almost on rails) that sent in Han Solo to rescue you before setting you down on Tattooine with the same grind based quests that existed before.
The best part for me and the only reason I don't feel that time was wasted was the forum meltdown. Seriously I have never seen forum threads turn over or be deleted so quick.

It also gave me a sense of perspective on what I wanted to gain from an MMO. Mostly for me it is the equivalent of playing solitaire. Time that can be wasted for no return. Especially when dealing with a heavily licensed IP I expect the game to be shut down at some point and all my exploits and goodies to disappear.

BW have good metrics on the game. I'm sure it's not too much effort for them to run a report to show what playstyle their big spenders (purchasers of multiple Cartel Hyper Crates, long term subscribers) indulge in.
Given the format of KotFE roll out (phased chapters that require subscription) it is kind of obvious this is a way of getting more players to subscribe for the duration of the new content and maybe purchase a new shiny level 60 or two. If they stick around for PvP and OPs then all the better.

From what we know right now, we will still have our five standard companion slots, plus HK/Treek/Shop droid. KotFE is going to allow you to choose your companions (unknown if that is from all available or not). This is more choice, not less.

As to the "story": With the *sole* exception of 1x five minute quest per class in SoR there has been ZERO unique story movement since beta. So, nothing new about that.
Assumption: Devs can't still make separate stories for each class, but from what I can gather they are making one 'customizable' story. In other words, while there is only one 'storyline' as such (ie. antagonists are same for everyone and same voice acting etc), it would have lots of tie-ins to decisions your character made and people they met during your original class story. This is imo the best of both worlds solution and I would be happy with it.

The lead writer pretty much stated its going to be like this, and that they haven't yet decided how they will handle it for the characters that are created straight to lvl 60.

Also something to note: the game pre-Knights is going to stay the same, and players will likely travel between it and the expansion in suitable context-specific timetravel as we have already been doing in SWTOR since launch. The events in SWTOR dont happen at the same time. The class stories take place at different times and endgame is later than class stories. Im sure people will forget there was any discussion about such things when the expansions rolls out..
