If it was because of pride, we'd be on the Frostbite engine since they designed it from top to bottom. Probably has something to do with time and money, since pride doesn't keep the bottom line from going red. We are talking about a publicly traded company here, the faceless masses of stockholders only care about the color of that number.

They should do a kickstarter for a new engine fund. I would contribute to that!

New engine = joke, this means new game, but improvments yes - do they focus sometimes to srsly improve this engine - i think not. And BTW stories and 0 new end game content...this reminds me something....ah yes! Release, 2011 year. And this reminds me too DA:inquisitions when they tried to cr8 MMO and fails - decided to cr8 single-player RPG. Deal with it guys, u can't change something or enjoy new phase in swtor history - sinlge player RPG with MMO elements. Forget about PvP or PvE content in near future (year-two).

*sigh*
Even if, so what? How many people actually do operations? Those that do - how many of them do HM? NM? Same with PvP - from those hundreds of thousands players do you think a thousand plays regulary and ranked?

MMOs are kind of funny as games go. They are aimed for the playerbase as a whole, you have something that will carter the needs of many, many types of gamers but in the end it's the casuals that make up the core. Everyone enjoys a good story, only some appreciate everything else.

My computer from 2009 runs the game just fine on high setting in both Ops and PvP.
Unsubscribed due to no new Operations.
I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

We aren't all swimming in money, are we?
You couldn't be more wrong, a new game engine would improve performance, not lower it. Even in mostly single player stuff (i.e class story) newer, much better looking games like The Witcher 3 perform better because they use a game engine that wasn't considered state of the art in late 2002 (that's when DX9 game out). They are able to use more than 2 of your CPU cores while also having much lower cpu overhead.
I wouldn't mind paying 40-50 bucks for a new expansion which has a new game engine btw, as it would vastly improve my gaming experience.

Oh and your rig from 2009 doesn't PVP when a solid 45-60 fps, to the poster directly above me. My rig with an (underutilized) quadcore cpu from 2009 with a highend graphics card (Radeon 290, again, underutilized) is lucky to get 30 fps in warzones.

No, pride is why we are on this engine in the first place. SWTOR's engine was made the way it was to facilitate all of the cinematics and story content that this game pushes. Bioware prioritized art quality over large group stability.

Also please guys the Frostbite engine would choke and die if you tried to run a modern MMORPG on it, there are reasons why MMOs rarely if ever use the same engines that consoles use.
