yeah except was it the game or the people that made SWG fun?
SWTOR is not SWG. it was never intended to be at all like SWG. and having a completly differnt design philophesy then SWG will never be like SWG

i would love to play SWG again... either preCU or after, both were a lot of fun to play.

and YES those good ole SWG days really were good and fun!!! i had a blast running around in fort tusken with my guild getting crystals and Tusken armor... watching my friend who was a combat medic run in tossing poison everywhere then running out with 20 Tuskens chasing after him (reminded me of Han on the deathstar) i had fun looking up what planets had the best components that week and then going there to mine for them, i loved my master crafter and actually making things that were good and useable by many. i also loved jumping into my ship and going out into space and flying anywhere and sometimes running into trouble and having to dog fight with either an NPC or another player. SWG was the most fun i have ever had in a video game and it is sorely missed

is that the type of owning up to it that you wanted??
Nah. Not really. If it was really that great for you then you would find a way to make it work for you today. There are disk images on the net. And there are continuing development efforts. You can contribute to those things and really lock in the luv you have for that game and make it a reality again. You can in fact play it.

Your defense of that game in comparison to SWTOR means nothing because you are in fact subbing and supporting SWTOR.

So carry on. You know NGE really wasn't that bad either. It was a minor speed bump... and nothing to worry about.

also SWG was a much better game than swtor... the only thing really swotor has over SWG is its graphics but that's like comparing Halo to the first Doom game
SWG was released in 26 June 2003 It wasn't until August 2005 that SOE reported that they had sold 1,000,000 boxed copies of the game which was it's projected launch numbers and it was estimated that they had under 250,000 active subscribers at the time. I personally bought 3 different boxed copies of the game because I wanted the rewards from them and I know I wasn't the only one. granted people also had multiple subscriptions but those collapsed as the need for them declined after they allowed for more then one character per server. Subscriptions for SWG are also less clear cut as Sony had bundle subscriptions that included other MMO's in the including one of the Everquests and the Matrix. *

Swtor's current estimated subscriber base is somewhere between 250,000 and 600,000 with launch number of 1.7 million falling under 1 million after 6 months

So it took SOE at least 2 years to sell about half the number of boxes of the game that SWTOR did at launch and has stayed above SWG's Subscriber base the whole time plus added revenue from CM.

NO SWG did not make more then SWTOR

Seems it was a heck of a game the way a Yugo was a heck of a car.

Haha where are you getting your facts! Since you clearly don't have any facts I'll provide you with some.

Swtor sold 2 million copies at launch. http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/01/e...ats-financial/

Swg took TWO YEARS to sell 1 MILLION copies. "Subscriber numbers were originally expected to exceed 1,000,000.[58] In August 2005, SOE reported that they had sold 1,000,000 boxed copies of the game.[59] In early 2006, unconfirmed reports showed that only 10,363 subscribers were playing on a particular Friday night, but Smedley denied that subscriptions had fallen this low.[60]. "

So three years in SWG had 10,000 player playing on a Friday night! Smed didn't deny this.

So clearly facts are not your strong suit.

So if SWG was such a great game I have a couple questions for you.

1) why has no developer try to copy well any of it?

2) why are you paying for this game when you can play you other game for free?

Wasn't SoR spose to be the NGE of SWTOR and then wasn't, so why should we believe that KotFE be any different?
Back in Black (and redder)!
The Sith Lord of Butterfly Catching has returned.

Nonsense comparsion. If SWTOR was getting its own NGE it would be removal of instances, adding tons of sandbox elements, expanding classes & sub-classes into dozens etc. You know, THE OPPOSITE general idea of MMO design (instanced themepark vs. sandbox), since that's what NGE wanted to turn SWG into in light of WOW's success and the apparent "win" of themepark design

I'm not sure what you would do with said information were it available right this second instead of a month before launch. Quit early out of some form of statement that you disapprove of what's to come? Play the game for what it is now, not what it will be.
It's a story expansion, it will be a closed beta.

Not likely, they only had about 30k subs left (From their 300k peak) when SWTOR was officially announced, and SOE decided to not renew because the Star Wars license was too expensive. SWTOR was a convenient scapegoat, nothing more.

And that's the problem. I haven't given Trion a lot of credit recently because of their foul-ups in Defiance and ArcheAge, but I will give them credit for learning the lesson that BioWare has yet to learn in regards to testing and vetting major patches and changes to the game. In Defiance, at least, their test server is pretty much up 24/7 and each and every update and major patch is on there for the entire playerbase to test - even holiday themed content. It still doesn't mean that the stuff is bug free when it hits the live servers, but at least they have already gotten the head start and have even delayed things that were found to be too fouled up during testing.
