There really isn't any debate there. This has been shown again and again since WoW.

Niche games can be as hardcore as they want. Mass market games cannot. A company needs to structure their financial plan around that.

Having played both in beta, and following a bit of the news on them, I think WildStar was better polished, and has more of an endgame problem, that being that their endgame is hyper-hardcore, and the hardcores got old and have careers and families now, and the second gen of gamers that started with the World of Warcraft tide was just never really that hardcore. ESO was buggy as heck in beta, and I understand it didn't get the polish they promised by release.

Which MMO wasn't?
They are all buggy as hell when they're released because they're all rushed.

WoW had one major issue (that I remember) and that was loot lag. Yes, if you blew through levels there was some end game content issues, but for the regular, log on two hours a day, folks, nothing like ESO.

I have nothing but thoughts of support for all the games, they all have their strengths and weaknesses, though I do hope that people will maybe remember in the future that the next big MMO announced isn't going to be as big as they think and kill this game, or WoW, or any other older MMO. But probably not. I suspect EQ Next will be the next thing that everyone will say is going to destroy all competition.

ESO just keeps doing it. Every update is like launch level bugs. Not just new content, but actually breaks mechanics of abilities and all that sort of stuff. That I could have lived with, though; as I so wanted to love the game, but for me, they just are moving so slow at making some things viable so you are not pushed to wear a dress and carry a stick, making all those skill choices meaningless; or to bring out anything actually interesting besides more VR levels to grind every 3 months.

I wanted to just enjoy the siege PvP and eventually the justice system, but it looks like they have plans for PvE grinding for a long, long time yet before that justice system and that also keeps me too busy to even enjoy top level PvP. I could go on and on with the disappointments but maybe they will get there some day. Untill then, I'm not going to sit there and keep playing while Im not having fun.

I was only talking about release.
What they do after that is their own problem. But I can sympathize with the developers who are trying to create a massive world and have a big company breathing on their necks, constantly asking them to hurry up and finish when they know they have issues that haven't been fixed yet.

That's hilarious. No wonder people are leaving. Semicore and casual players aren't going to waste hours upon hours grinding the same BS over and over just to get "key" to do something.

You don't have those players? You don't have a bottom line.

The only exception is when your financial outlook never planned on them in the first place.
