Why am I constantly being asked "can you respect to heals, or off heal us". The Tactical Falshpoints does not require
a healer. If you're unable to complete the flashpoint without a healer, decline the queue when it pops...and wait for a group with healer.

I'm just going to direct you to this thread right here -------------------> "The Weird People You Meet In Group Finder"

*P.S.-Tactical flashpoints seem to attract some of the worse players(speaking from the threads I've read). Asking them do more than just make things die, i.e. click a kolto station to stay alive or move out of the red stuff on the ground, is asking too much.*

Because they are used to healer keeping them at 100% between pulls. Now, without a healer they don't know how to use their out of combat heal ability. I don't even want to know how that's possible...

What annoys me is I queue as DPS/heals every time, and every time it will only ever pick heals for me... even if the group has no DPS and already another healer. If there's no healer I will usually just do it and do some off-DPS.

Well, they can ask you to heal. Why not ? A tactical flashpoint doesnt require a tank nor a healer, but while a tank is a drag, a healer is a really nice convenience. For everybody, since things will go faster. Yes, can be a pain to heal one of those, but then it's up to you if decide not to do it and deal with all the out of combat heal needed.

Not that I bother with tactical flashpoints anymore outside of the occasional Assault on Tython (just because I like watching Narnia burn), but whenever I do deign to tank these mindless zerg fests, it usually consists of me holding everyone's hands and continually saving them from their own stupidity. Because even in content designed to support their go-go-go wooooo shiny play-style, most dps are truly helpless people in need of a Shepard.

You're welcome.

Have to admit, I had a WoW flashback when I read the title. The simple answer is that because you can heal you are expected to do so. Does not mean you have to, just don't be surprised when you get a lot of grief because you don't.

Depends on exact class and spec. I find that explaining your/your class's limits at the beginning when someone asks, helps a lot, and can stave off a lot of drama, unless you're grouped with complete window-lickers --which obviously can and does happen. Nothing you can do about that, though.

IME:

Gunnery Commando/Arsenal Mercenary:

Easiest (at least I find it so), and arguably best off heals courtesy of 2 charges of Power Surge as well as Tracer Lock/Light-em-Up stacks hasting Healing Scan (instant with all 5 stacks), plus the lovely Kolto Missile. Will overheat quickly if pushed, though.

Pyro mercenary/Assault Specialist Commando:

Off-healing not recommended beyond the odd Kolto Missile. Very easy to overheat like, instantly.

Damager Sorc/Sage, either tree:

Bad Idea(TM) --no really, as in, "I got a RL bad feeling about this..." if I see someone ask my Sorcs to off-heal.

Even Lighting/TK with its seemingly unlimited resource-pool will run out of Force right now if they start off-healing too much, and forget about it in the DoT-tree. With that said though, the "off-heal rotation" I use can make for one Hell of a good "Oh ****!" button: Bubble the person in trouble (I generally consider it good form to bubble everyone before a big pull or boss-fight if I'm the only Sorc/Sage in the party, although this is by no means mandatory), Recklessness ---> Polarity Shift ---> Clicky +Power relic if so equipped ---> 2x hasted Dark Infusion. If both charges crit (which they usually will), then you will have just blasted buddy back up to the tune of 15-20k HP if you're geared, and the bubble will ensure that he'll actually get some of it.

Damager Scoundrel:

Nope! Too long to cast, too much energy use, no instants without spec'cing as heals. Should be saved for self-only.

The moral of this story is:

Although you're not expected to heal, do,

1) Be ready to watch out for each other in a TFP. A well timed Kolto Missile + Power Surged Rapid Scan can make all the difference if things go pear-shaped.

2) Be aware of the off-healer's design-limits, and that they are kept low for an important balancing reason, and that you shouldn't push them too far (A Pyro-Merc off healing too much will overheat almost instantly, it seems like.)

That goes for everyone, though, not just the off-healer.

Got a real tank in a tactical core meltdown who insisted my dps sorc not dps anymore because I stole aggro off of her. After two wipes I was forced to only click healing stations. I guess the guy never heard of taunts or guard or anything. We needed extra healing because it couldn't get to the generators in time as a jug.
