Making demands in an insulting manner instead of a suggestion made calmly just makes you look childish and lowers your credibility to zero in my book and I'm pretty sure it does in the eyes of the devs as well.

Hooks, no matter how robust, ruin the creative aspect of housing imo.
agree with you :/ if people dont belive you they should take a look at wildstar/swg/rift and the how creative you can get with freeplacment,

As for the post you replied to, it may be better than Ikea. But it likely is much closer to Ikea than it is to Rift.
Am I a developer of SWTOR? No. I wish! Am I somebody who is closely involved in the game, loves it and defends it with facts together with my viewpoints? Yes.

Surely you defend it with your viewpoints but facts? Not that I've seen.

I would seriously like somebody to offer a constructive argument explaining why the option to drop an object at your feet (or using your mouse to select a location), rather than on top of a hook is all that difficult or complicated to use and implement.

They can't as simply as what you can see The Repopulation video is way simpler and flexible than what SWTOR achieves fro now.

What annoys me is an indie game is able to make much better in that way with way few resources.

Wildstar has the most advanced system, it autoplaces items on any surface, to walls and ceilings as well as floors, with no needed adjustment for fine placement. No more fiddling to get a picture flush on the wall anymore. It is easier than ever to use a free placement system. It is no harder to place an item than using a hook system. SWTOR has really taken a big step backwards.

LotRO uses a hook system, but what most people don't know is that it was a stop gap system that was never intended to be in long term use. The devs there said that they could do a fast and dirty housing hook system immediately with improvements to come or wait and do it properly from the ground up at some indefinite future date (in both cases with free placement). The community voted for fast and dirty and due to failing revenue and going f2p the follow through never came. This all went down quite early in the games history.

Seriously are we going to keep fussing and fighting that they didn't give me what I want "Free placement" until the housing is released or you finally going to accept the fact you are not going to get what you want.

Seriously you really think they are going to change the system because some of you are constantly reminding them every single day they didn't give you free placement. Oh please give me a break . They already know it. I don't think they need you to remind them every single day.

What you should do instead is give them valid suggestions how to make the hooks better without bring into play the free placement, such as adding hooks to tables, etc.

Get over the fact that they are not bringing in free placement and get over the fact that not everyone is going to agree with you or want free placement.

The system is a hook system and we should learn to live with it and maybe like some more sensible people have stated add some hooks to furniture, place extra hooks in the room that can be moved around.

This constant digging your feet in and pouting that you didn't get free placement has gone all long enough. It has been 3 weeks and seriously don't you think enough is enough.

Give sensible suggestions such as some have i.e.hooks to furniture, place extra hooks in the room that can be moved around.

They are not going to change the system just because you stomp you feet and scream you want free placement.

Good night and have a good week.

Wow, that was quite impressive actually.

I don't get it either...

That is exactly the video I wanted to find before posting. Thank you.

(Funny how they have working chairs in pre-alpha.)
