That said, I think a global LFG channel may very well be a good thing for the game, depending upon how it is implemented.

I do NOT think that a "traditional" chat channel is the way to go, however. In my experience, a global chat channel is simply an invitation for those so inclined to spam everyone in the game. This has happened in every MMO that I have played that has tried to implement a global channel for any function.

I think that suggestion made by BuriDogshin may be a way to accomplish the goal of allowing a global LFG and also eliminating the potential for spam.

Instead of check boxes, maybe use drop down menus.

I don't know the specifics of how this may be accomplished, or how difficult it would be. But I do think that a global LFG channel needs to be something a lot less "free" than a traditional chat channel, if one is implemented.
I'm all for tweaking whatever we need to tweak to make the entire system more user friendly...you get no argument from me on that at all.
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force

That is apparently too much effort for you, so it is up to BW to create a whole new channel simply so that you don't have to hit those 9 keys.

Allow me to quote you:
we have this now and how is it working out?

if you want a LFG channel to work properly it needs to be universal across the entire player base, not just available to groups of players who are friends and already talk to each other.

If only there were a tool of some sort that one could click and "queue up" for content such as this. The tool could even automatically place people into groups. Just for kicks, maybe this thing would even let us choose which Ops or FPs we want to participate in and match us with other people who want the same thing. Something of a Group Finder, if you will.

If only such a tool existed.

also said tool would have to let us cue up for the ops we actually want to run not just 8 man story and flashpoints. For the more hardcore ops we still need something like a LFG channel to get in touch with players looking for harder content than the group finder provides. Especially once player housing arrives and fleet becomes a more spread out population

If only such a tool existed that would not group for DP with 24K health toons doing their first op ever ....
or HM CZ Labs with DPS in 150 gears. Sometimes there is no substitute for assembling a group by hand.
Going Preferred January 31, 2015.

Ssshhhhhh. Truth such as that will just blow a hole in the "The onus is on BW" argument.

Yeah..... a global open chat channel (regardless of how it is defined to be used by Bioware) would quickly become the new defacto /trade channel and probably the defacto baiting/hating/trolling channel. It would also cause the spawning of thread after thread in the forum demanding that player <xyz> be sanctioned for "misusing" said channel. It would create a ton of CS tickets that would take cycles away from actual game play issue tickets.
When you find yourself surrounded by hostile Clowns... always go for the "Juggler" first.

That's an easy fix make the global channel level 50 + and just this will eliminate all credit spammers since cred spammers are low level.

It doesn't need to be global it could be fleet and housing instance only.
