A couple hundred dollars? Lmao you have no feet to stand on.

Anyway, I've said what I wanted, devs can ignore this like with most things.

Thanks all!

Why should players be expected to put forth any effort at all. BW should just hand them everything they want, right?

  • The Operation,
  • The number of people,
  • the difficulty mode,
  • whether it is for full or weekly,
  • how many tanks, heals, and DPS you still need, and
  • (optional) which boss you are starting at

You click submit, and the system posts the appropriate text message to the channel. Perhaps a short comment (perhaps 20 characters, e.g.. "know fights," "post achievement," "for vehicle") would also be allowed.
This, iMO, is good idea, and the optional check boxes could include those things such as: know fights, post achievement, etc.

It's still the same spam, and you can deal with it exactly the same as you can right now. Turn it off, ignore it, or /ignore the people you don't like. Being a separate channel now, you would even be able to create a fancy new tab for it.

What have I asked them to hand me? A chat channel to aid in connecting a splintered community? LOL! I expect them to look for ways to IMPROVE the game, not make it seem more and more desolate.

Do players have to option now to have a global LFG channel? Yes, all that is required is the infinitesimal effort to hit 9 keys: /cjoin LFG.

That is apparently too much effort for you, so it is up to BW to create a whole new channel simply so that you don't have to hit those 9 keys.

Allow me to quote you:

Quote me all day if you like, I stand by every one of those posts and my opinion on this won't change. It's up to BIOWARE to do this, not the players. Leaving it in the players hands dooms the channel to failure. It's not about the 9 keys, it's about participation.

If you want the game to feel more desolate than it is, fine. I don't. This is an MMO Rat, not a single player game and I believe that finding ways to improve socialization are important.

Allow me to quote you:
Player made channels fall into the trap of being a popularity contest where it is run by players and if you aren't of the popular crowd you are silenced. A company run channel is open to all without discrimination, player run channels are by definition a discriminatory effort as you are trying to limit the scope of the channel to what you envisioned it to be, and is policed by the channels creator, a player.
I'll tell you what, then. Why don't you call me some time when you have no class?

I do not think that onus need necessarily to be on BW.

That said, I think a global LFG channel may very well be a good thing for the game, depending upon how it is implemented.

I do NOT think that a "traditional" chat channel is the way to go, however. In my experience, a global chat channel is simply an invitation for those so inclined to spam everyone in the game. This has happened in every MMO that I have played that has tried to implement a global channel for any function.

I think that suggestion made by BuriDogshin may be a way to accomplish the goal of allowing a global LFG and also eliminating the potential for spam.

Instead of check boxes, maybe use drop down menus.

I don't know the specifics of how this may be accomplished, or how difficult it would be. But I do think that a global LFG channel needs to be something a lot less "free" than a traditional chat channel, if one is implemented.
