Your points might all be valid if they were actually trying to cultivate an open world PvP environment; in which case, ensuring that there's not a large gear gap might be a good thing (even though PvP gear is not hard to get. Before there was bolster, PvErs had to put on PvP gear to do well in warzones. Why should the same not be true of open world PvP? But I digress). But they're not doing that. They're making another PvE quest environment, for PvErs. A small consolation for PvPers not being able to literally conquer planets via open world PvP (which we would prefer) is the ability to grief people doing their quests in such areas.

But sorry, I'll be a good little boy and go back to the pvp forums where I belong.

For the first time since launch, I am finally excited for something in this game.

Also, I know this is big news so I am going to be sticking around in the thread answering questions as I can. We probably aren't going to talk too much about the details of each feature yet but I will answer what I can

Hello Eric,
any chance we might see PvP Conquest missions in future as well? Something simple, like killing X players, or killing Y guards...

So being a star wars game and in star wars were huge ground battles such as on Hoth,Endor and even Geonosia, when are we gonna see that? by large I mean more than eight. The highlight of a star wars game shouldn't be housing, sure for the role play folk that's awesome good for them but what about the star wars fans and the pvp fans?
Star wars is about epic battles not guarding nodes and scoring goals in forced in your face huttball. Any of the developers here actually seen a Star Wars film?

Haven't you heard?: their game engine is like, literally the worst. Knowing this, and that EA will not allocate them the resources to upgrade the engine to acceptable standards, small scale open world skirmishes across multiple points should be encouraged over large scale battles. Besides: I love open world pvp, but not zerg fests.

I had heard that, but come on they must make a fortune on cartel stuff so you cant tell me they are not making good money. Its funny that Star Wars fans would expect big battles yet they use a engine that cant handle it..... wheres the common sense?

While most of all seem to be excited, let's have an overview on producer's letter.
They've postponed the Strongholds' release to August but what does this mean?
Easy. According to their schedule, Strongholds will be squeezed in three different updates, which means Makeb-sized expansion won't be released during the 2014. Once againg with this move they have brilliantly find a way to release less content. So, the big announcement set in december, it's going to be the makeb-sized expansion...
Just get ready to see another update splits into 3 parts.

Good job Bioware.

Actually it will probably be suqeezed in 2 patches. One for early access (2.9) and one for access to F2P peasants. However, from the letter, it looks like the early Access will contain the full features of the expansion (guild ships and conquest included), so maybe the "peasant access" will be rolled in something like 2.9.5, not 3.0.
Patch 2.8 will no longer contain anything stronghold related, according to the letter.

Have you even tried OWPvP ever since the early days? The engine handles it much better now, and it is continuously upgraded. I remember having zero problems in the large scale PvP battles on Oricon just after its release (large meaning two full ops groups (24 people, IIRC) plus random stragglers against each other)

So, an activity which would spell PvP, such as conquering and owning a base / outpost / planet is decided via PvE content, making alting almost mandatory now and making PvP guilds obsolete. Talk about retarded.
