not to defend him but before the game came out there were suggestions to have some random person named skywalker as yes Anikan was space jesus but his mother wasn't and the family line could be long indeed.
however the suggestion was for the npc to be a farmer or something not a sith or jedi.

It's hilarious to just counter everything they throw at you with something made up, each more ridiculous than the last one until they ragequit.
I mean, this is a multiplayer game. Everyone else is not here to satisfy their ego boost.
The best I did was with my Bounty Hunter when I was on Nar Shaddaa a year or two ago back when the game was new.
Met some guy who was lvl 20+ and my character was around the same level.
He was a sith claiming to be somehow related to the skywalker bloodline (which is kinda silly since anakin was a "virgin birth" in the first place) and making up all kinds of reasons why everyone couldn't beat him.
Most were just playing along or ignoring him (presumably to placate him), but I decided to take up the fight when he "attacked" me for not bowing to him.
I started off using all kinds of gadgets and he always wrote some magical way to escape them even tho he couldn't possibly deflect all the rockets, flames and stun darts I was tossing his way.
Finally I jumped behind a pillar (I think) and wrote that I detonated the bomb I had placed in the area we were in two days earlier to which he replied that I was cheating.
I told him I was here to hunt a target that I knew was going to arrive soon, but springing my trap early to take him out was worth it.
He got really angry and told me he used a force bubble to protect himself and I asked him how he was going to protect himself if the explosion was powerful enough to blow away an entire block of the building.
He said something along the lines of "I'm invincible and you are just a maggot" and logged off.

Sometimes I just can't help myself. It's wrong and I know it, but he was ruining everyone elses RP'ing session.

(Oh and as for those asking for the old armour from KotOR, it's not because the want to be mission vao. It's because those armour sets look good. Most people mix and match... I rarely see anyone dressed in a full outfit, unless it's revan )
LOL that story reminded me of a webcomic I saw not too long ago: The Campaign: Pass

The reality is it's just Sturgeon's Law in full effect: 90% of everything is crap, and yes that applies to role players too.
One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate, and thus defy the tyrannous stars. ~Kain

It's because the Sith are stupid. Plane and simple. So are most people who roleplay Sith. Incompetents whose basis for RP is as strong as kids on the playground. "I am a sith so I am superior!" "Nuh uh, I have guns and bombs and can get lasers from space" "Yeah well I just steal your gun and dodge your bombs and lasers and now I'm force choking you so you're dead".

SWTOR is not built for RP in the first place, but it's especially bad sith side, where people with horrible egos feel the need to try and lord over the non-sith RPers. Plus the fact that in the imperial agent story itself, every member of intelligence hates the Sith, and just follow orders to not get killed. Because to the Sith, competence isn't important, unless you're a Sith.

Also the best way to play the Agent story is lightsided, and choosing every option that teases a Sith.

Basically, most people don't want to roleplay subservient slaves who are too weak to fight for themselves and are just chaff for the Sith, so no one wants to play a loyalist, because if you do you inevitably get every sith going HAHHA YES BOW DOWN POLISH MY SHOES even though that makes no sense.

What I noticed is that some sith have to interfere with something that is going on between two people that have absolutely nothing to do with them.

Example: My boyfriend and I were in Nar Shadda today, he was on his assassin and I was on my warrior. His assassin character is the type that likes to fuss or want to strangle Quinn. For us it is just fun but we had someone tell us we can't do that?

Excuse me? Is it not between us to decide what works for us. I don't remember interfering with their roleplay. It makes no sense to me why people want to interfere with someone else's roleplay when it has nothing to do with them.

We have done that since the beginning. I laugh when he does it but for us it is just fun.

LOL, I ran into something similar recently (not RP related tho)

I just returned to TOR after a 12 month break away from game and was in a PUG Long Shots group

So we kill the first crowd and the second crowd at other end of bridge.
So I run past them, spin and hit force push, pushing a number of them into the lava

Suddenly this PUG member starts typeing

"THATS ILLEGAL, You cant do that, I know some websites say its a stratagy but its not, its against the rules and you need to stop doing that immediately"

And she wouldn't shut up about it (even though I wasn't answering anything she was saying)

By the time we hit the boss at end she was STILL going on about it, holding a conversation only she was participating in.

Killed boss, finished quest, say thanks all and put her on forever ignore

So its not just imps who feel the need to butt into things that don't affect them.

LOL, honestly no clue if knocking mobs now called a abuse or not but I figure if they can knock me in and kill me.
Turn around fair play if I get chance to do to them

But on topic of RP.
Some people seem to get really worked up about people RPing.
Its like your taunting them or personally insulting them they get so worked up

Back in beta (or early retail, forget which) I had a imp agent and one day logging in for no real reason other then felt like it

I logged into Dromman Kaas and said over general "Remember, we at the Imperial Agency are always watching".

You would not believe the mass hate that one statement created.
Just endless responses insulting role players and "stop ruining the game" and more personal and vulgar statements.
Went on for a good 5 minutes non stop of the haters feeding the haters until they all in full blown rage and mob.

I dont RP anymore myself but I have never understood why those that dont feel so threatened or insulted when they see others who do.

Just one of those things I guess
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

I think its a rather big misconception that the quality of someone's RP is linked to class.. Good roleplayers can be found for any class.

In all roleplay, the biggest challenge usually is portraying a bad guy well. And Sith tend to pretty much fill that role. Theres always lots of players that "kill stuff cause they are evil." and stop to think about any motivations behind their characters actions.
On the flipside of the coin, I have also experienced over zealous heroes going out of their way to stomp out the threat of a player who plays a villain before anything really happens.. effectively ending a plot that could have entertained people for days or even weeks just to stroke their ego and move on like nothing happened.

Personly, I have characters of all classes. Mostly Sith due to my legacy being a Sith legacy. A tight knit sith family that truly cares about each other. Everyone else can burn for all they care, but family is everything to them.

The first of them became sith at the end of the great hyperspace war, and the family has expanded ever since.. many have been killed by rivals, entire branches lost, many dying in wars too but there's still a sizeable number of them, and by this time period pretty much all of them are born force sensitive due to hailing from such a long bloodline of sith.

Quite a few people seem to think that Sith can't be like that, that they couldnt care for family or such. Personly I am more interested in exploring a different interpretation of Sith, one that makes more sense.
No sense in having the goal to become the most powerfull being, if all that power dies with you and you can't share the joys of victory with anyone.
So hence my sith family is different. Their path to immortality is by passing on their legacy to the next generations, all power gained is power for the family. The family leader is chosen by votes to ensure the most competent one leads.

When in private amongst family, they can relax and let their guard down. They play with their children, talk casually with each other, have friendly duels and would practicly seem to be a more normal family.
I gues it could best be described as a mix of a mobster family, an old roman family and the addams family.

Could always just RP it out, and either end up fighting and go based off the results of the duel to see who will piss off. RP'ing around titles just for the sake of titles is boring, prove the worth of your title

Admiral Reiken (the Person on the Imp side that gives you the KDY quest and is talking to you the whole time while doing the quest) she talks down to a Sith lord and even gets him choked out by her best friend. She serves a darth and she still has the balls to tell off a Lord of the Sith AND get him choked out then proceeds to tell him watch your mouth and learn your place lol

Imperials are more charismatic and can have friends and high places… so maybe some of these agents telling you to shove it are like them… they have powerful allies that can kill you in a moments notice if they want, all they need is the look and BOOM choked out!
Solo capping nodes is what I do best... If you're solo defending, prepare to be stun locked and killed!

She's also an Admiral, a position of power that most RP characters aren't in :P
