There are a ton of things that could be made useful with the guild ship/housing. I just have a bad feeling it won't be used for more than show sadly. There will need to be some sort of neighbor system in place for people to quickly and easily visit other houses to see what other people create.
Something like the stronghold legacy storage and being able to teleport to and from the guild ship you mean?

Well, Im not very pro on instanced housing. That said, SW gamers can be unique in the way that they like to invest in the world they play in.

SWG did not have instanced housing naturally, and the investment was substantial.

Well as far as guild ships go the whole park in orbit for buffs/QT thing + planetary conquest seem like an intriguing mini game in itself.

I'm interested just to find out how they intend on presenting the mechanic.

GIve us real content Bioware! If i want to decorate my stupid livingroom I play The Sims. Where is the "Story driven MMO"? The current operation bore me to death. They were released last october! I cant see the stuff anymore. And the newest flashpoints are a real joke. You can litteraly switch off your brain for 20 Minutes. Too easy and boring. Casino Event in the next patch: what the hack are you thinking? Push buttons on slotmachines and spend 20mio credits for all achievements? Sorry Bioware, but you screwed it. This game comes to a slow and painfull death. Nothing on the horizon that makes me want to play. But at least the cartel market gets new goods every week. Lol. Subscribtion canceled and out of here.

Yep, things are normal. The feature isn't even out yet, and people are complaining like a sail barge full of C3PO copies.

Don't you have something better to do?

Rift has one of the best player housing systems to date in MMOs

So stopped reading OP post when he whined about Rift Dimensions

Cause for people that want housing and all that comes with it. You could do ALLOT worse then RIFT Dimension style/design.

That being said the SW:TOR housing is clearly EQ2 style housing with a modular twist (which in itself sounds like a very great idea) to it.

NOTHING released to date about SW:TOR housing suggests they doing RIFT Dimensions style in any way/shape/or form

I think the OP just wanted to whine about RIFT honestly.
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it
