Devs at the latest cantina: Class Story, not at the moment...

Who here has said that? Good stories come in many forms. But that's not a good reason to stop asking for something that we like. Something, again, that BW did such a great job at to get us hooked on this game.

So, I may go to a restaurant and order a ribeye. I've had the ribeye there before and it is delicious. But, they bring me a t-bone instead. Am I supposed to keep my mouth shut when they say, "Well it's still a steak and it also is delicious."?

Legacy-wide storage was specifically said to be "too technically difficult" to do at one point, and yet it's coming anyway (even if they haven't specified exactly what form it will take).

They've also not said "no more class stories", they've said they're focusing on "Avengers-style"/faction stories for now. They've also specifically noted that they're aware that there's a lot of interest in continuing them.

And your rationale for this is what, specifically?

Moving to faction-based stories hasn't appreciably increased the amount of story content we get (Oricon's "planet" arc, for example, consists of doing the daily quests, only with a cutscene in between each quest...and once you've completed it on one character, you've done it all. Neither Makeb arc has any significant depth to it (the Republic one is about as shallow a story as any in the game, the Imperial one at least has some credible beats to it), CZ-198 was a paper-thin story, etc. I'm not seeing how these are representative of a 'more positive' experience.

I would agree to the extent that any additions to class story need to be made alongside additional general story - simply adding class story on its own isn't the way forward. That being said, I don't see any particularly convincing argument for saying the elimination of class story has actually increased story quality or enhanced the story experience.

Why? This seems more like "I want to argue against them for the sake of arguing".

Bioware has indicated it's aware that people are interested in class stories, these topics are a good way for players to make Bioware aware of continued interest, and an occasional topic about class stories doesn't affect you in any way. If you feel such topics are useless 'harping', you can just ignore them.

I agree that class story isn't inherent'y better - Bioware's perfectly capable of mediocre writing regardless of the story type. I don't see how this is relevant to people wanting more class story, though.

Its easy when I all I have to do is point to the company and say:

"Class stories, and ridiculous things like "text quest class stories" aren't coming." They already told us as much.

Hmmm. Unless you are going to tell me all of the sudden that Bioware is lying to you and class stories are in the works.

But feel free to keep banging your head off the wall. As DarthTHC stated, good stories and class stories really have nothing to do with eachother. Bioware can easily add compelling and interesting stories to the game without the ridiculous notion that they have to be class stories.

Class stories will be continued. You may be in denial about it, but you'll be able to dig this up later and see who called it. Feel free to quote me at that time. I'm not saying it's going to happen tomorrow or six months from now, but it's going to happen.

And again, just because you don't share another persons opinion, doesn't mean they're wrong. I'm 100% NOT a story guy at all, but this game sold itself as a story game and MMOs are known to expand over time...why the hell is it so difficult to understand that one of the KEY features of SWTOR (Class Story) is also one of its most desired expansion features?

You can think it's silly all ya like...but I spacebar EVERY classes "story" and I don't think it's "silly"...it's simply a desire some folks are expressing and I support their desire to have the game expand in a way that THEY want.

And I've said constantly, I also would like new class stories, so you won't prove anything. I have said multiple times, if they do it, GREAT.

I'm not, however, going to keep asking for something that is repeatedly been shot down. To do so, is the definition of insanity. They are well aware we want them. They have said they don't have them on the radar in any way, shape, or form today.

Reality. Get used to it.

Well it doesn't really mean that. I think its a commonly accepted cliche version of it.

I should say its simply being obtuse and ignorant to expect different results but I am trying to be "polite".

And notice that I will not bash you or anyone else for playing the way you want to play. One size does not fit all.

Actually the definition of insanity is me looking out my window here at work and seeing those poor unfortunate souls who truly do suffer from a mental illness. Let me tell ya, if our case managers, doctors and nurses could get some of our patients to be as eloquent in making a request like this they'd be ecstatic. Of course I understand you are going by the Albert Einstein quote defining insanity. Which, while amusing, isn't correct.
