Group finder and operations

Recommended Posts

People tend not to queue in group finder for operations. They do for the flashpoints, but just not for operations. Part of this is that most commonly for story mode people do 16 man (which isn't in group finder), but mostly it's because they want more control in setting up the group.

To get an ops group, hang around fleet. If it's a time when lots of people are on you should see many LFG [various ops names] or LFM [whatever op], meaning looking for group (the person wants to join a group) or looking for more (the person is leading a group and is recruiting more).

Type your own LFG message and/or whisper someone who sends a LFM message.

Be sure to let the leader know it's your first time (so they know they'll have to point out any tactics you need to know).

The other option is to look for a guild that does ops casually. This would be a more laid back and forgiving introduction (people looking for more on fleet occasionally don't take kindly to newer players). Look on the guild recruitment subforum for your server, or just ask on fleet if any guilds that casually run ops are recruiting.

Good luck!

Suggestions for joining your first group:

The most forgiving op that people regularly run is EV HM (Eternity Vault Hard Mode), which is really a level 50 operation. I'd try to join a group advertising this first to get your feet wet.

After that, I'd look for TFB or S&V (Terror from Beyond and Scum and Villainy), the two older level 55 operations. The newer ones are DF and DP (Dread Fortress and Dread Palace), which require slightly more gear. Make sure it's a group for story mode (SM) and not hard mode (HM) for all these level 55 ops.

People dont typically queue for operations like that. They usually form a group on their own to be sure everyone is geared right. Occaisionally some 8man groups who formed on their own use the queue for the 10 daily comms but its very rare that a group forms just by the queue. And whenever ive gotten a group like that ive been kicked because they were forming for their guild

Go to Oricon and do the quests there. They reward you with a 6 piece set of modable armor that's a great start for Ops. Also look around for dailies that reward basic or elite coms to hand in for good armor. You can get a lot of Elites by doing the lvl 55 HM fp's. Once you start doing SM Ops you will get Ultimate coms as well from weekly missions. Also if your doing 16 man each boss drops them. These can be handed in for even better equipment.
