I have no idea if this is helpful advice or not, but I was just able to login to my account on the website for the first time since the 2.6 maintenance window by opening a new browser window on the Login button (I middle-mouse-clicked and it loaded the login page right up, but I assume right-clicking on it or other keystroke shortcuts would have the same effect). Until now I would just see Firefox's loading cursor spinning and then eventually time out to the maintenance page, but I was just able to login and use my Cartel Coin code I bought from Amazon.
Not sure why this would work, but I hope this helps somebody!!!

Changing to googles DNS allowed me to log in for the first time in over a week.

Some nslookups before and after changing DNS server:

> account.swtor.com
Server: UnKnown
Address: 10.1.1.1 (my router/ISP supplied DNS)

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: e8199.g.akamaiedge.net
Address: 23.46.43.8
Aliases: account.swtor.com
ea3.com.edgekey.net

> account.swtor.com
Server: google-public-dns-a.google.com
Address: 8.8.8.8 (Google's public DNS)

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: e8199.g.akamaiedge.net
Address: 23.209.219.8
Aliases: account.swtor.com
ea3.com.edgekey.net

This suggests Akamai made a change to their servers that has propogated incorrectly. So, its not really your ISP's fault, nor Bioware.

Obviously a conspiracy by Google. It's not enough for them to gather every little bit of data on us via the search engine, g-mail, and YouTube, but now they need to spy on our DNS queries. Now that I have logged into my account, my settings are going back to default. What a bunch o' bull.

For reference's sake my before and after:
Comcast ISP DNS:
23.64.107.8

Google:
23.195.107.8

DO you list your occupation as conspiracy theorist by any chance?

Seriously though, do you know what DNS servers are? and do you realise that every single ISP on the planet has a DNS server? Google and OpenDNS are two companies who operate their DNS as a complete business to ensure the web runs smoothly.

No. It's Network Administration, actually, for the last 10 years or so.

I know, obviously. Still doesn't mean that Google isn't using that information for information gathering purposes. It's what they also do.

Now my turn to ask a question - do you know what sarcasm is?

/sigh. You do realise what would happen if they used said information without stating they do to the relevant government agencies across the world... right?

Nothing. They'd have to get caught first, and Google is very canny.

NSA is tracking his every movement and he's worried about Google?

Well, not really worried (or surprised) about Google or the NSA. I would say that I can't say why, but then that would start to sound like an internet troll. But I will say that if the common folk are so shocked about the "revelations" of the NSA and other things like the Target breech, if they knew even a 10th of what really goes on out in the wild, most of these people would be scared back into the Stone Age of communication.

*Edit for clarification - this is my "main" account. TravelersWay is my "Secondary" account which I tend to post from most of the time because I have the accounts logged in on different PCs and the TW PC is the one I do most of my web browsing from.

Actually your wrong the only people accesing it fine are the people changing settings with DNS, therefore its not our problem considering we were ble to get on here fine before, so why all of a sudden can NO ONE get on unless changing DNS . obviously something happened their end to make it not work without changing it. we shouldnt have to change DNS at all, its not our computers, so we all coincidentally have something wrong with all our computers at the same time?
