Hello Everyone,

First of all, let me thank all of you ahead of time for being willing to take a look at this strange little problem of mine. This is by no means a new graphical issue. I noticed it when I did a re-play of Oblivion earlier this month, but ignored it as a minor nuisance. Now that I have SWTOR, it's literally showing up all the time and severely cripples game play.

Pictures of the problem:

It only happens when I face one direction. If I face another direction, all returns to normal:

I'm running SWTOR on a Dell XPS m1530, which has a 8600 GT graphics card. It's worked fine on low/medium settings. Has anyone ever had this happen before? Is it a virus of some sort? My drivers are all updated, btw.

Thanks in advance!

First, I've never seen or heard of a virus that causes graphic errors in games. second, that is a graphics glitch that is actually fairly common on nvidia cards. ati cards aren't imune though, as ati owners can probably attest to the green walls of light you sometimes see in game.

Make sure to report the issue directly to bioware so they can be sure to have it on a list of needed fixes. Play with individual settings in the video panel to figure out which specific setting can be turned down to leave the others up.

I'd say update your video drivers. You mentioned it popped up during a replay of Oblivion, Had you recently updated when it started? If so you might actually need to roll back to a previous driver. Kind of a pain in the backside but not unheard of.

FWIW I haven't noticed a huge difference in look between medium and high on my nvidia gt 430, so dialing it back to medium for the time being shouldn't be too unacceptable.

Your card is artifacting google it. Sometimes it's setting or it could be a cooling issue check the fans and clean them could be cards are getting hot or a driver issue

Hi! I am having the same problem, only right at the beginning. I could not even view the conversation until the end. I looks like the ship fills the whole room! I have a Dell with Windows 7. Does anyone have any suggestions??

God bless<><

try the latest beta driver 290.53 @ nvidia

it may or may not hurt, keep in mind when you install to do a custom install then select "fresh install"

Also make sure your video card is supported search for the latest drivers manually using your operating system and card.

I tried to download the file for the graphics card, and it said it could not find compatible graphics hardware.

what video card "are" you using?

If you're using an NVIDIA card 290.53 should work regardless. You may need to reboot pc and run that program as an administrator.. I actually had the same error myself, and I'm not sure why it happened that once.

I'll try to help if you're still working with this.

If you use any of the following cards :
