untill last week my pc had a very old graphics card and i still think it looked pretty good.

when i got a new one oh man i noticed a huge difference i like the art style and the graphics were once again speced for multi generation pc's so all could enjoy.

also Op is right this game does looks like 2008 graphics this game was being made for 5 years count back 5 years from now.

Bottom line is that there is plenty of eye candy in this game to be enjoyable. I actually have trouble seeing things if there's too much detail, like Skyrim. I miss stuff all the time.

Skyrim is an example of taking it too far. Which is kinda cool that graphics have now gotten to the point of "too far".
Sorry let me rephrase it.

Here's what's wrong:
  • Unpolished textures (bleeding edges, not fitting meshes)
  • Textures that doesn't look good
  • Overdo features: body proportions, shoulder pads, backpacks, weapons...
  • Non SW fitting gear appearance
  • Totally unrealistic building design: huge doors or corridors that serve no purpose, bases that doesn't look at all build with military intelligence, weird space fleet design,.

I've been to the SW identities expo in Montreal and well the stuff I saw from the movies is totally the opposite of what you can find in TOR.

Everything is nicely and finely polished, down to the details you won't be able to notice in the movies but it's there.
Every item, space ship, building, has been designed in the mindset of being futuristic but first being realistic, usable and well not to look like brand new but old from usage.

Let's take HOTH in SWTOR vs in the movie. In one it's a desert and arid planet in the other it's overpopulated with NPC, POI, bases everywhere. In one the base look like actually adapted to the environment and well hidden. In the other nearly all of them does not even fit the surroundings and the layout makes no sense at all. Even I don't see any military people willing to defend such poorly lay out places.

The difference is in the details and TOR has most of them wrong.

And TOR is also set a few thousand years before the movies... stuff can change in that amount of time
1) I reject your reality.... and substitute my own
2) Not to be used when upset... will void warranty
3) Stoke me a clipper i will be back for dinner
4) I have seen more intellegence from an NPC AI in TR beta, than from most MMO players.

Does not excuse poor graphics nor poor design either

Fair enough, but to be honest, i have yet to see a single game that has resolved this 100%. I however would put this along with the next part that you listed (as they focus with textures).

Opinion. Although i do feel that there are quite a few that need sharpening up to a higher quality.

Its called an art style. *shrugs*

Care to list some examples? Honestly, I am not 100% on

Agree to an extent, but i also feel that some of this fits into the art style part that i listed higher up.

Well, here's some screenies I just took, anyway. You can see how much better the graphics really are:

On my ship. XS FTW!
Voss Arrival
Voss-Ka taxi
Voss Countryside in "Very High" goodness
Texture, lighting and shadow on a Vorantikus
And from the other side - As you can see from the last two, especially, the textures and lighting in this game are actually very good. I think any perceived lack of texture is actually a dislike of the art style, which is NOT GRAPHICS.

Texture and lighting on my character
Urban landscape, Coronet City, Corellia

No, there's nothing wrong with the graphics in this game. I think the problem some people have, once again, is the art style.

EDIT - Grr, stupid photobucket resized my screenies. Anyway, you can still see the texture, lighting and shadows.

EDIT2 - fixed
Yeah.those are how mine look too in TOR. But if you zoom in much on your chars..the armor will not be that detailed. And your shadows are like they are....Lego style. Overall Rift looks better than TOR does. And even WoW has better armor detailing and shadows. And do you notice in TOR how the grass seems to grow in the distance as you move ?...lol. Even with the grass and trees set to max.
Trust is something which is earned.

Ex: fur textures looks like plastic, scratched armor doesn't look like scratched at all but more like the artist spend less than 5 min brushing them. Senator Kay robes are really awful.

Yup and it blows. (ok personal opinion)

Mostly all the 1.2 new gear, the (once again) overdone shoulder pads, spikes, alien vs predator or marvel helmets,

Agreed with the "some of it".

SW uses some big stuff too or "non" logic elements but there were here for a reason. In TOR it's ad nauseam.

The graphics in the game are very good, you don't have the right settings.

I had to force settings with nvidia inspector to get higher settings and it does indeed look good. I believe the ingame settings only force AAx2 there are much more tweaks you can do with nvidia inspector.

Art style is subjective, graphics is mechanics. This all art style, not graphics... not to mention nit-picky. I can pick apart any art style of any game, that's easy. I can even pick apart some of it's mechanical applications. Any game. Because no game is perfect.

Yep, shadows need some work. But that's about it. Any game you zoom in on will be less detailed.

WoW has the worst graphics of any game imho. Sorry, art style.

It does that in Rift, too. In fact, I can't think of a game that has a decent vegetation option that doesn't do that in the distance.
