Huh? Call it that if it makes you feel better, I guess.

But yeah, I guess that's the concept. You group with an idiot named "Darth Bob". You and the other people in the group now know Darth Bob is an idiot and won't group with him again. Now there are 4-6 people who know he's an idiot. Those 4-6 people are later in groups with other people and warn them that Bob's an idiot. Now there are 16-36 people who know. And so on. And so on.

Who cares what you call it, if that's what you mean? It was quite an exercise just to get you to acknowledge that that is what you meant.

And what's to stop me and my buddies from harassing you by wrongly tagging you as a griefer, harasser or idiot? That's the problem with name-and-shame. There's no "due process," so to speak.

What are you talking about? You used the term, not me. Who the **** cares what buzzword you want to call it?

Do you even bother to read what others post?

Or do you think replying to me with a re-wording of what I just posted somehow adds something to the discussion?

Remember when WoW tried to do that with Real ID on the forums? The backlash was insane

Nothing, other than people generally don't call you bad or a ninja looter if you're a good player that distributes loot fairly. You could, but when was the last time someone actually did it falsely? It's counter-intuitive and generally doesn't happen.

If someone is saying "GeorgeJedi sucks, he's wears green lv 10 implants at 50 and can't tank" someone will support it with their own experience, and if it doesn't match up, the liar usually gets put in their place. If GeorgeJedi has sucked many times, it shows and the community remembers and reinforces it to one another.

As a cranky old person, I turned off General Chat the first day, back in early access. The only time I look at it is when I'm guild recruiting, and then I watch it for five minutes so I know who not to invite.

Generally doesn't happen? I see fairly regularly in GC on the fleet two players just back from a WZ or an Op or a FP each accusing the other of being lame or a cheater or whatever. Now they could both be what they are being accused of but more likely one of them is simply lying. And there is no way to tell the difference. That's why name-and-shame (or whatever trendier or more pedantic term CosmicKat prefers) is a bad idea.
