Jerks are actually a small minority, everywhere in life.

I didn't say it was like the wow community. The wow community has become an entity all its own. But SWTOR chat is creeping up there. Maybe we should can the F2P and go back to a more...shall I say...sophistocated group?

I started on Jung Ma, and it was a mixed bag. Some folks were nice, some weren't.

Then I decided to try out Prophecy of the Five for shorter PvP queues. I've never seen so many textbook psychopaths clustered in one area in my life. I found it really disturbing. Maybe it's because I was raised in the South and have been conditioned for social niceties, I dunno. But the level of racism, homophobia, misogyny, and outright nastiness from some of the players was just jarring. I'm talking lawsuit-level, fired-from-job, punched-in-the-face kind of stuff.

So, I moved to Begeren Colony and was absolutely FLOORED by how nice the people were. Many of them stay in character and even the arguments are polite. And don't let anyone fool you - the PvPers on this server are just as fast, just as skilled, and just as deadly as anywhere else. All in all, I couldn't be happier.

Want a better experience all around? MOVE TO A ROLE-PLAYING SERVER. You won't regret it.

I don't dispute your final sentence, but there are plenty of jerks on BC (just, as you note, not as many) and most of them seem to be PvPers. I never see anyone IC in General Chat, so I'm not sure what you mean by "Many of them stay in character." IC is generally frowned upon in global chat channels.

It's too bad. I already paid 1800 for a toon transfer and left about 5 toons behind on my old PvE server. Now I'll be transferring again, leaving behind another 4 toons.

People also shape up when they face real in game consequences.

There are none in TOR because it is primarily a solo game with no downside to having a bad rep.

Real name? My real, human name? I don't think so. Can you imagine the opportunities for harassment this would create? I don't even want people to know my account name in game.

Like what, "name and shame?"

Ebon Hawk is worse, but it's about 50% more populated than BC for the most part.

Like... if the game is group focused, and actually takes time and effort to advance... getting a bad reputation means you can't get a group which means you can't advance.

In an open PvP environment there is also the theory that players police bad activity, but that theory only works if the majority of players are not griefers, which is of course, never the case.

So, again, what do you mean, "name and shame?"
