I've often thought about this, I know of a few solutions to bringing a new class to the game.

Though first I would like to point out adding a new class means creating two new advanced classes that mirror on both sides, whilst giving you 5 new trees. It's a ridiculous amount of work and is just silly; make one 'Advanced' Class that is mirrored aka the Beast Master/Droid Controller, that way you have only 3 specs to balance, and you won't have to also come up with four additional names (two for both sides).

It the above wasn't chosen I would suggest adding two distinct 'Hero' Classes to the game, one Imperial, one Republic; these would not be similar in their game play, specs etc.
That way these Hero Classes could be any class you wished, even going as far as locking the species; Jawa Scavenger, Tusken Raider or Wookie anyone?

In order to get either of these working without interfering with what is currently avaliable, have the Heroes (or new Classes) start on a entirely new world at level very high level (say 45, or even 50) with individual story quests that can only be played by these characters, and only once they reach the end of the story can they go to Fleet and participate in other PVE (PVP they can from the start).
This means no messing without prior created worlds or stories.
I would also like to make it so that only someone with a character at 50 or 55 has the option of creating one of these new classes.

Another variation using the above 'new story class story world' idea is having only one class, a Droid class (a lot of people want one), and then based on choices within the story, they have the option of going with the recommended faction (based on their choices), or just completely ignoring those choices and choosing their faction. Bit of a waste for creating a whole new world though.

The possibilities are many, but only if you create a new story, new world, and isolate this new class till it's 55.

+1 for adding 8 new advanced classes, much less costly than a new class. Just make the skill trees and add some powers Maybe try hybrids to mess up the trinity.

Make some YouTube videos of this and I'm sure a good amount of previous subscribers would come back to check it out.

They need a summoner class badly. It would really spice up the gameplay! Here are my 2 ideas -

1. Nightsister/Brother like character for sith - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nightsisters

2. Beastmaster character for republic - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Beast_master

Im sorry but they need to remove the advanced class barrier and merge the polished/modern mechanics into one class for each. It can be done and its actually quite interesting when you weigh the pros and cons of every variable of this scenario. Its complex and takes some crit thinking. But anyway. Yeah add more classes I guess..

i would like to see a force-augmented fully melee class, maybe one like ensign Raina Temple:

Republic:
Special Ops Commando, advanced classes being Hutt mercenary and Republic security officer:
Uses a vibrosword or electrostaff with lots of skills that use tech damage, wears heavy armour with aim attributes. could use a wrist blaster like NPC droids and such. They could have a force push or blast, or something similar to disturbance. Hutt mercenaries could use specialised stims, medpacs, and adrenals as a healer and damage dealing coud be an aoe class, with an ability similar to smash but without autcrit and a cleave ability, like a melee version of chain lightning. Security officers could use stealth and have an offhand and always visible vibroknife. some abilities could be knife throws and electrified armour. A tank spec utilising the knife as a bouncing throwing weapon to draw threat and shock darts to draw threat woud be ideal. the middle damage tree could be similar to infiltration or scrapper, with heavy burst and healer killing skills, but less reliance on being behind the opponent. the final shared tree could be a Teras Kasi user, utilising jumps, flips and evasion to bewilder the opponent

Empire:
Fallen Sith, advanced classes being Hutt liaison and Rogue Sith:
Uses a vibrosword and blaster pistol with lots of focus on melee tricks and blaster shots. A small force ability, for example force lightning, shock, or lightning strike would show their old force-using self. Hutt liaison would be very similar to a Hutt mercenary, using stims, adrenals, and medpacs to heal friends and hinder enemies as a healing spec. Middle damage dealing tree would be aoe, utilising explosives and a shock suit to shock and blow up enemies. Rogue sith is a stealth class inspired by Mara Jade Skywalker in her 'hand of the emperor' days. they use a lightsaber and a blaster. the tanking tree would utilise mind tricks and telepathy to guess what an opponent was doing, and would focus more on evasion than resistance. the middle dps tree would be spike damage, putting sneaky blaster shots in and utilising a style similar to Count Dooku (i cant remember his form ), focusing very much on 1vs1 dueling. the share tree would be practically the same as the Republic

id say the easiest way to add new classes is something like a neutral faction with 3 choices at the end of the starter quests 1: republic 2: empire 3: (new faction) something along the lines of what they did for wow with pandaria or something like adding in the chiss empire in the game... it already makes cameo appearances but for some reason is virtually unknown by the time of the movies... maybe some content that details those events that led to them being unknown or something.

There will not be any new classes, its too much effort for bioware to do anything about, they have even abandoned solo stories, the last 2 content updates have been purely group oriented.

Groups + stories = bad experience and bad idea.

They could do a class with a little less convos and go more "bursty" with cutscenes/story and just 3 companions (1 healer, one tank, one dps, rest can be filled with HK-51 & Treek), most of the classes stories I played had some pretty bad fillers anyway.

Anyway my wish for classes would be:
- Imperial Trooper, Assault Canon for Ranged AC (Special Forces), Techstaff for Melee AC (Imperial Guard).
- Beastmaster, Shapeshifter for melee AC, Packmaster for Ranged AC.
