ok this guide is to show you how to download the paches manually without the games launcher and apply them to the game. I will show you too things one is how to manually patch a clean install and two how to download and patch the small patches that are for a existing install.

CLEAN INSTALL

First you need to do a clean install by downloading the 37MB SWTOR Installer or retail DVDs

Digital Installer:
http://patchnotes.swtor.com/SWTOR_setup.exe

Retail DVD Version
IF you do not have the DVDs then you may get them from amazon
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CWXAP2/..._VtCcsb18WS0MH

Patching Mode

You will need to do this if you have install the game and updated the launcher using digital installer

open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line

Change BR to SSN
if you want to use this manual patch method

"bitraider_disable": true
bitraider_download_complete": {}
"PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\"

Steam Mode

Change SSN to BR
if you want to use the Stream method of installing the game but atm it needs fixing as it downloads very slowly for person and some not at all

"PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"BR\"

Download Patches

next are the patches themselves now you find them below,

v1.0: You will need these patches if you are doing a clean install using the digital installer but these patches will never change as these are the base game patches

v2.10.x: These patches are for current update of the game and will change after every new patch and you ll need the new patches to do a clean install

Folder Name: movies_en_us_0to2
http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/mov...en_us_0to2.z01
http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/mov...en_us_0to2.zip

Folder Name: retailclient_swtor_0to156
http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/swt...tor_0to156.zip
http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/swt...tor_0to156.z01

To work out what the new links will be in future you just need to change the number after 0to____ in the file name and directory for example if there has been a 1 new patch since this post then those numbers will go up by one,

Example Links

Original
http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/***...ain_0to155.zip

New
http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/***...ts_swtor_main_0to156/assets_swtor_main_0to156.zip

In The Patch links List you will see links with the name of the folders that the files go into once you have them all download will will move on to the next step. OK once download leave them in a safe place for backup and copy them to the new install directory that you have made using the retail DVDs then open the launcher and let it update

Once the launcher has closed and reopen log-in. it will say its verifying the current patch it was looking for that you have place in the game directory then it install it then move on to the next patch until the game has been fully updated and YOUR DONE

Existing Install

this is pretty much the same as find the new links for method as clean but you change the patch numbers from prevous patch number to the new patch number

Example Link

http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/***...ts_swtor_main_177to178/assets_swtor_main_177to178.zip

Note: if you missed more than one patch you will need to do it again

I can do a video guide if shown Interest

That is very appreciated!

I always have a hard time patching and EA are clueless about how to fix their corrupted sources problem, usually blaming user's hardware.

At least now I can re-download the faulty package and move on with my life instead of wasting my whole evening in a patching loop.

Better to put this in the Customer Support forum I think... it's less likely to get lost over there.
sayonara SWTOR. I will miss the game, I will miss many players, I will NOT miss being lied to and deceived. I will not miss rookie level mistakes of epic proportions.

Corrupted Source issues can certainly be Hardware
You can move off that patching mode now if it is causing you grief though, it will just mean if you ever need to run the repair you need to delete the Bitraider folder located in the game folder.

goto
:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic

and open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line

"PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\"
Change SSN to BR
"PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"BR\"

Going SSN to BR should be a fairly quick process (been told 5minutes if patched up) (BR to SSN is longer though)

Also less likely to ever be seen there.

I think this forum is the right place for this tip.
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force
