It puts 250,000,000 cartel coins into the system PER MONTH for zero extra dollars. Bioware would be INSANE to implement this as described. I feel confident they are smart enough not to do it. You can discuss it for another 1,000 pages if you want, but they're still not going to do it. Fortunately.

What if you made a "subscription pack" item? Something that requires you to complete an RMT (much like the purchase of CCs) before being awarded the tradeable item. You could maybe even have multiple levels of it -- 1 month, 2 month, 3 month -- and maybe with or without the CC stipend.

I think doing this, with NO CC stipend, would be great. Maybe $10 for a "basic subscription" item that you can sell on the GTN or gift. That way, Subs can't use "free" CCs towards it, and you're also being given yet another subscription option (aside from Sub, Preferred, F2P).

Maybe?

As far as Plex/CCs -- maybe do the same thing as I said above. Have a "Cartel Coin Pack" that you purchase with an RMT (like you do now) that grants you a tradeable item. Once used, CCs are added to your account. But you would be free to sell these packs, and by requiring an RMT, BW wouldn't be losing money.

Would be interesting, to say the least. I wonder if they'll consider anything like this in the future -- or if they've already had discussions on it.
TERA online used to do this before they went F2P - you could purchase "Time Scrolls" (they had a fancier name I can't recall) through their website, which you could then sell in game to other people or use them yourself* .
The user would then get 30 days of subscription time.
Basically what you suggested, and which would honestly be a good idea IMO.

* Which would be kinda silly since you could've just paid the subscription in the first place.

If they were stupid enough to actually consider such a blatantly selfish suggestion, they would honestly deserve to go out of business though.
But yes, fortunately they are much smarter than that.

Sssssshhh, guys, I want someone else to pay for my subscription. I am now 1000% behind this idea.
I'll tell you what, then. Why don't you call me some time when you have no class?

Is this referral mic on? It's free stuff and stuff, in game.

That also works. EvE calls them PLEX (one month) and Exchangeable Time Codes (can be had for any multiple of 30 days I think).

Adding the in-game purchase of CC suggests that Bioware is at least thinking of taking the next step and doing what's suggested here at some point, whether they sell game time straight up for CC (and make CC tradeable in-game through the GTN) or sell some sort of new tradeable in-game token that represents game-time. It amounts to the same thing in the end. One may be less work than the other, since it only requires reworking the mechanics of an existing currency rather than adding a new category of item.

Oh right! And once this one goes out of business we'll con the next company into doing this, right?
Fiendishly cunning. Sign me up too.

What Bioware is doing is simply making CC more easily accessable.
And it will probably help them reel in more cash from "impulse" buyers, since it will make the transactions much easier and faster - so they won't change their minds before completing their purchase.

No, since the "cash" in this case is free credits issued in droves by the game itself. Really all this comes down to is people subsidizing the subscriptions of others, at that point just buy them a sub and call it good. Best way this game survives is not making Cartel Coins more available, but rather more seductive and attractive so that people are more willing to buy them. In order to make money you must convince someone else to part with theirs. Making someone part with their funny money (in game currency) does nothing for the growth of the company and the game itself.

All I can say to that is "Eh?".
I have no clue whatsoever why you're suddenly going on about credits when I'm talking about their in game CC store.
"Cash" = actual real money, not credits.
So the purpose of the new in game option to buy CC is meant for them to make more money, not as a prelude to some conversion system.
