But I think they mean that they removed they kept the darkside/lightside option but gave you the option to choose between the dreadseed and starforger chestpiece
This is the change, STOP freaking out people. I don't see how you read this another way. They just changed the mechanic of the chest piece choice.

I for one have never complained about having to work for my equipment, because my equipment is earned through pvp. I obviously enjoy pvp so that's what I spend my time doing, I can tell you I'm not going to grind for hours upon hours to earn equipment, if the only real value to that equipment is that it will make me better at grinding for hours upon hours to earn the next piece of equipment. If you're bored then you're boring.
I'm not refuting the point, I simply gave the example that was asked for.

MMO's used to follow a risk vs reward model where the level of a reward was tied to the risk involved (risk being the chance that time would be wasted for no return). Then came the addition of time vs reward, where the amount of time it took set the level of the reward. Now it's cash vs reward where the amount of real money you are willing to spend sets the reward.

Simply playing the game is often enjoyment enough for some people, otherwise no one would bother to repeatedly grind dailies or "fish" in order to achieve things. I can see where there would be frustration from people who spend time to earn something only to have things change to the point where it now becomes much, much easier to achieve the same item, but I don't think it's a "slap in the face".

I love it when you get an 8 page thread due to one bad jumping to incorrect conclusions and creating a storm in a tea cup.

^This.

THEY ARE NOT GIVING YOU THE FULL SET. JUST THE CHESTPIECE.

If the latter, why did you choose to spend your time playing a game doing something you loathed?

If the former, why are you complaining?
Could it be that he enjoyed spending the time obtaining the pieces because he was being rewarded for that time spent, and now that the pieces are essentially being given away for free he feels that that time spent has been cheapened?

Hmmm, are you seriously trying to analogize playing a computer game to the Olympics? Both are games, but of a rather different caliber in many ways.

Because this change retroactively destroyed the fun he had for those days or weeks he played? How?
