The way I've mostly seen it done is everyone forgets about the SW part and just uses TOR.

Internally I say "swotor"
Out loud I just say Star Wars
But I've only said it out loud one time.

I read SWTOR as "S-W-Tor". When speaking about the game I either say "Tor" or just "Star Wars."

I say SWOTOR in my head but when talking with someone, I say Star Wars.
It's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission
