Cause every time an invading country gets pushed back the country that was victorious in repelling the invaders totally loses its cultural identity to the defeated country, right?
If you can come up with another theory ton how this happened I'm all ears.
The Republic in the movies, as well as the Rebellion in the movies, uses the same symbol as the Republic from this game. It is only after Palpatine reforms it into an Empire that they adopt the same symbol that the Empire uses in game.
Unsubscribed due to no new Operations.
I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

The Old Republic Conflict led into the New Sith Wars and the Empire wiped itself from the inside out.

That's actually what happens.

Actually, the Rebellion used the house crest of Galen Marek as their symbol.

Thanks alot, Lucas. Turned Darth Vader into a baby and then turned the Rebellion into a failed Empire plot and then turned a widely recognized symbol of freedom into a permanent Gary Stu insert.

That's something they can't do, because that would upset pretty much everybody who plays this game heh.

I was under the impression that TFU is not canon.

Lucas stated that it was while promoting TFU II.

Could be that both sides decimate each other, then the survivors say '**** it, lets rebuild'.

I can't explain why BW decided to make the Core Worlds accent an "Imperial" accent out of nowhere. Well, I can explain it - they wanted to make the Empire of the game seem close to the Empire of the movies, so they could snag the fans of the latter - but it's not a lore-based explanation. Linguistically, it's pretty much impossible for an "Imperial accent" from a random corner of the Outer Rim to suddenly proliferate all over the Core Worlds, even if the trillions of Core Worlders were all killed and replaced with Imperials, which itself is prima facie ridiculous. That, and there's preexisting evidence of the Core accent (e.g. Atris in KotOR II) independent of the Sith Empire. And it's something I've complained about pretty much ever since TOR was announced several years ago, so yeah. Kinda like how the Republic supposedly decided to abandon the symbol that it'd been using before SWTOR just so the Sith Empire could employ it, then re-adopted it later on.

And to think that that stupid hole would've been completely avoidable if the writers hadn't inserted unnecessary lines like "That accent? Pure Dromund Kaas". There's nothing in the movies that explicitly ties RP (or, really, "vaguely British English-sounding accent") to the Empire. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Ki-Adi-Mundi, all Jedi; in A New Hope, Motti and several other Imp officers spoke with a decidedly American twang. It would've been eminently possible to just get away with having imperiously (har) evil people do RP, and plenty of other Imps speak with an American accent. But nooo, they had to invent a contradiction.

An Imperial conquest would pretty much destroy preexisting lore concepts like the Alsakan Conflicts, make utter nonsense of Obi-Wan's claim that the Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy for a thousand generations, and raise the extremely salient questions of where the hell all the Sith went after they managed to conquer the galaxy and how it's even remotely possible for that Empire to turn into an exact replica of the Republic it supposedly replaced. And that's not getting into how silly it would be for the Empire to suddenly go from "we're going to lose this war in a month" to galaxy-conquering behemoth.

I wouldn't totally put it past these writers to do something that ridiculous, so it might very well happen. But it'd be freaking crazy.

Well I personally also hate how empire uses REPUBLIC'S uniforms and republic style ships, while the actual Galactic Republic uses crappy looking rebel ships.
The reason all these triangle style ships were part of the empire in the movies, was because the empire was a reformed republic. So naturally a lot of republic styles and design carried over.

I just can't understand why they felt the need to make the sith empire look like galactic empire and the galactic republic look like rebels...They could have just given the sith empire a new unique design and kept the republic looking as it should. Oh well, at least our troopers look like they should.

No wonder a lot of people refer to republic as the rebels in swtor...

Clearly the Republic is winning at this point. Well, according to Darth Marr they are.
I suppose getting a lyrium tattoo of breasts on my chest would make things better...

You really don't understand or you just don't want to understand
