Why does anyone thinking isotope-5 is a game changing breakthrough though? It's a nice addition to their resources, but I'd rather have the allies the Republic gained hands down.

In the comics, novels and several class stories we see far superior technology put into place and countered. At best, isotope-5 is one technological advantage but the Republic has broken the empire's new toys over and over already.

The thing is that with Makeb stabilized, it's not just a "new toy". It's applications are limitless. You could have an entire fleet of frigate sized ships equipped with weapons that vaporize entire fleets, for example. It makes all the toys of the empire look small in comparison. Personally, it's a DUMB idea to just conjure up this god substance but... meh, it's how we rollin.

Additionally, they way it's been described, it seems that the Empire won't need any other energy resources, at all.

I guess the implications of an unlimited resource is so stupid I just can't take it seriously at all. We obviously don't know it's limitations yet, but they are obviously there.

Plus, the "beta stage" weapon applications shown so far are mediocre at best. We solo'd them left and right.

Well, not technically unlimited, just so ridiculously efficient that it might as well be.

In terms of upgraded units, Isotype-5 apparently provides slightly better shields/lasers, though I feel that the whole energy thing is the main sticking point.

I think we can be pretty certain the sith are defeated but it is conceivable that the empire could win as in the scenario (or similar) that I proposed earlier, it would take some writing and might be a little beyond bioware to make it believable but I live in hope of the surprise twist... Just to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the republic players really.
It is unclear if this war and this Empire are the same as the ones during Darth Bane's time, but (with Bane's help), the Republic eradicates the Sith and the Empire at that time.

So yes, the Republic does eventually win. Also there is the fact that the in game Republic is the same Republic that Palpatine eventually destroys.
Unsubscribed due to no new Operations.
I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

Like I said in my theory, I'm actually pretty positive that the Republic loses this war and something happens for the Empire to turn into a republic.

I guess if that happened we'd have to file it next to Jaxxon, President Daala, and Dark Empire as the dumbest things in the entire Star Wars EU.

even dumber than defeating the invading empire then adopting their symbol, ship building style and accent?
Cause every time an invading country gets pushed back the country that was victorious in repelling the invaders totally loses its cultural identity to the defeated country, right?
If you can come up with another theory ton how this happened I'm all ears.

Clearly you didn't vaporize the republic fleets as a Sith Inquisitor yet. Project "Silencer"
