Read the sticky but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. What I am wondering is if you can learn new recipes from reverse Engineering a purple item? The sticky says:

"Reverse Engineering a green item has a small chance to give you a blue schematic of the same item
Reverse Engineering a blue item has a small chance to give you a purple schematic of the same item"

I learnt two lvl8 reusable healing potion recipes this way. I found alot of "alien blood sample" crafting mats in the AH super cheap so I can make 10 or so more of these potions. Is there a point to do this and reverse engineer them? Can a purple healing potion for example give a stimpack recipe? Can they give a BoE recipe of themselves that can be sold in the AH? That would perhaps be a good way to make some cash.

No, purple rarity doesn't give you anything for breaking it down.

Good to know, thanks for the reply. Would have wasted my crafting materials away otherwise.
