Whats the difference between respeccing to it and just having a fleet of alts so you have every class anyway?

Pretty easy to do even if you haven't yet with the double XP weekends coming.

It is extremely easy to do. It would, however, require a modicum off time and effort to actually level those alts, and the "have to have it now and for as little effort as possible" crowd is simply too lazy to put forth the minimal time and effort to actually earn that new class they want to play.

I would think that most of them could have already had that new class up to max level and very well geared if they had actually put any effort into leveling it instead of posting here looking for it to be just given to them.

Do you see a problem with that? Bioware moves slow as hell on "balance"...their combat team is pathetic. There's no "FOTM", it's "FOTY" with as slow as they move. Don't blame the player...this is on Bioware. The alternative for many is to simply quit the game...would you prefer that?

If a player wants to play the FOTY, as you call it, they can LEVEL THAT CLASS. Since you claim that BW is slow as molasses running uphill in January, those players will have plenty of time to level that new class and get it geared while it is still the FOTY.

If the player is simply averse to the minimal effort (TOO LAZY) to actually level that class, then they can continue playing the one that they DID level.

+1 for pragmatism.

People act like it's a greek tragedy to level a character in this MMO. It's not. If anything it's a bit too easy in some ways... but that is in line with most modern MMOs... so it's fine IMO.
When you find yourself surrounded by hostile Clowns... always go for the "Juggler" first.

It's the thread that will not die.

I used to think it was the CE vendor thread, but I was wrong.

Why?

If the most OP class of the moment is (for exemple) the Assassin/Shadow and you have a Trooper you will only be able to choose between being a Commando or a Vanguard. Noone is asking to be able to switch from a Mercenary to an Operative (for exemple).

Being able to choose between the Advanced Class of any base class is not a major issue or game breaking in any way. To take the Trooper example again, if a player switches from the Commando to the Vanguard what major advantage has he gained? Being able to heal instead of tank? Having to run into melee range to do damage instead of staying at 30m? Having to use a Blaster Rifle instead of an Assault Cannon? How is any of that a major advantage or game breaking in anyway?

Does anyone really think that someone will switch and suddenly become incompetant/overpowered?

And we're back to your only argument, which is to PUNISH players and call them names like "lazy" - I contend that the lazy person in this situation is the player willing to sit in a chair for another 2-months to grind out a new toon.

I find it comical how invested you are in this subject. It would have zero impact on you and you can't let a page slide by without arguing with every poster who dares to think it's a great idea. It's just a game Rat...you've made your point...we get it...you have plenty of free time to grind toons, not everyone does...some just want to play casually.

I'm sorry, but I very much doubt that the devs ever said the highlighted part because it is NOT TRUE. The class stories are for the BASE class. So a Commando and a Vanguard will experience the exact same TROOPER story.
