"The devs" don't play my game. I do.

Or do the terms class, AC and spec have as much meaning as the DEVS impart to them?
This still isn't W0W. It is a game though...AC swapping should be allowed. Relax Rat...we have Rudolph the red nose tauntauns in game and you're worried about AC swapping?
All warfare is based on deception If his forces are united, separate them If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near A leader leads by example not by force

And we should have 8 class stories rather than 4 per faction? 8 different sets of companions?

Oh, no, not red-nosed tauntauns! That would make the game totally unplayable!

What is the mirror to a Warrior? Faction wise?

There is none. At one time you couldn't play all classes on either faction, but to my knowledge now you can. So you do not have class mirrors.

So a few mistakes they made here.

1) Created class mirrors, giving the illusion that there were 8 classes when in fact there were 4...if you count the force split there are actually 3.
2) Created nested classes inside classes, giving the illusion that there were 16 classes when in fact there were still 4.

So you have 4 unique classes across two factions fractured into 48 different roles, many copies of each other. It is a hot mess IMO....all in the name of variety. But is it real variety? When you play a smuggler and an agent do they really feel different other than story?

Two classes would have shared the same story, with some slight differences. They created the base class as a story anchor I suppose. Some slight variations could have provided 16 classes with a reasonably unique storyline, though two classes would have had a similar line.

Too bad the devs make the rules for "your" game. Unless you play on a private server, that is.

Calling something a class is not a rule IMO. It is a title. A title that devs may grant an item or feature.

For instance, devs could call each spec a class, or say they view each spec as a class. That does not make it a class. That makes it how they view the spec.

Players determine what is defined as a class and a spec in a game IMO. Not the devs. It is all based on how it feels. And in this respect I believe the original design failed to provide a real "class" feeling to ACs. This is something they can fix IMO.

Calling an apple an orange does not make it an orange...even if I sell apples.

Here is what I would be asking the pro AC change folks, only to prove that ACs do not feel like classes.

I would ask...

1) Do you believe a player should be able to change their base class (Trooper, Smuggler, BH, Inquisitor, Warrior, Knight, Agent, Consular)?
2) If you do not, why not? What is it about the base class that you believe makes it a permanent choice, if that is what you believe?

This is not a question to get leverage against AC change...only to demonstrate what a real class is to players, and how they view real class criteria.

That can demonstrate what is wrong with ACs.
