Not sure if this was said or not but how about a Flashpoints/Ops that are space missions. You would gather 4+ for the group and when the Flashpoint/OP starts you are in your ship. You each have a different path which in turn has a different objective to complete. Sometimes your paths will cross your other team members path so you can help them out on their objective. Eventually you will all get the same objective like to destroy Empire/Rebublic Fleet.

I know many people do not like space missions but then again many people do.

Rewards could be like Elite Comms or a random roll of a Grade 8 Starship Upgrade (If BW whats to implement a level 8 upgrade which I think Grade 7 is good enough)
