Many were hoping defense would increase resist, but I think that would have affected force/tech internal and elemental damage, which can't be sheilded. That would have made defense way too goodsince 30% of damage is internal/elemental. Not sure if we get resist roles to force tech internal elemental. Force shroud works by adding 100% resist chance, and shroud works against it. Thus we must get a resist chance against it, assuming the tank has resist ofc.
