I have nothing against double exp but it should have been optional. Those that did not wanted it for certain characters should have had the ability to turn it off.
Rubbish. You didn't -have- to skip anything. You CHOSE to skip it because you were more concerned with your level than the story. I will agree that it should be optional that way the whining would stop.

Should be optional. I didn't like as a new player.

I enjoyed having a double experience weekend. It gave me the opportunity to skip a bunch of non-class quests.

+1 Absolutely.

EDIT: While my max character is only in her mid 30's, for me the most fun way to level has been to do flashpoints and space missions until 1 level under the level range for a planet, then head to the planet and experience the class missions and planet story arc to completion. Avoiding the fluff adds that much more weight to the quest content i reckon.. while there are exceptions, it doesn't take doing too many of these to realize that alot of them are just there to.. i dunno. Are they even related to star wars?

Amen. Planetary arcs can sometimes even detract from the enjoyment of one's story line when they almost force you to step out of character. Oh, suddenly I'm mr Helpful now, am I?

I avoid planetary arcs as far as possible. Previously I used to supplement class story exp with a lot of space missions. DXP freed me from that burden.

Nothing is stopping you from doing those quests if you want to do them for some reason other than experience gain.

How hard is it to simply skip some quests during double XP? Class story + a subset of a planets quests and you are good to go to the next planet. It's not rocket science.

And I get that some people want to explore every nook and cranny of a planet... but do you want to do that on every character? Probably not. So save yourself one character on each faction to do this... and you are good to go.

Protip: don't play a character that you want to "slow walk" through the planets on double XP weekend. Play an alt that you are more interested in getting to end game during the double XP weekend. Common sense, and you have the power to make the choices that benefit your play preference.
When you find yourself surrounded by hostile Clowns... always go for the "Juggler" first.

The point of double exp is to level. For me to benefit from double exp I should have a char I want to level and not to play my new republic char. (I've got 8 level 50 imps) Now I could play all the grey quest like all suggested but that would mean solo it all because I outlevelled also group content such as FP's before I could say "Three Swedish switched witches watch three Swiss Swatch watch Switch. Which Swedish switched witch watches which Swiss Swatch watch Switch?". Hey perhaps you guys like to play solo but I did not join a MMO to be an overlevelled char solo-ing stuff.

I don't want all my characters to level in the blink of an eye. So why are some people making such a big deal if I (and some others) want it optional for some characters. I prefer to level at a normal pace, explore all content (and yes I have 7 lvl 50 empire chars and made some fresh republic chars that really did not need the double exp).

Great that loads of people want double exp but it seems you and others prefer to force double exp for all while my suggestion would benefit everyone. Face it, not everyone likes double exp. I want everyone to enjoy their game the way they like to play it and not like you want them to play it and now have people attacking me and pretty much say I should not play at all.

So yes let there be more double exp and let it be optional so those who like to not join won't join in. It's pretty much the same suggestion as the rakghoul event where loads of people wanted an option for opt-out so they would not be forced to get infected. Not everyone wants to join everything EA throws at our way. Don't like people who don't want double exp, deal with it and don't tell them to quit the game or force double exp on them. The same way I deal with it and won't mind you having your double exp power levelling mode.

There are people here having serious issues with my suggestion since they are harassing me trough several media (not talking about this thread) on my optional suggestion. Grow up.

No reason this shouldn't happen, imho. It wouldn't be hurting anyone. Turn it on double exp by default, and allow users to manually turn it off (and back on) at their discretion.

Double XP allowed me to skip right past them and other boring grinds to get to the fun story and class quests without worrying about being underleveled.

Ultimately, though, I think they should make it a legacy level 50 perk available at any time rather than on fixed weekends.
Those bonus quests were worth a ton of XP though. I remember turning one in on Quesh and the damn thing was worth 53K plus the other 30K or so for the actual quest. Managed to get two tokens to 50 by the end of Belsavis leaving me able to hit Voss and Corelia once 2.0 hits to get some levels off of and then hit Makeb to finish out my run to 55 or at least get me close.
