If you cant see a difference between 1 and 4 , 2 wont be noticeable.

With your CPU have a read of this http://bitsum.com/about_cpu_core_parking.php

also seeing as you have 16Gb Ram have you tried http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=529567

Oh wow thank you for the tip about the Max Pre-rendered frames to 1 to stop mouse lag. I have a Razer Naga 2012 and I was always getting that annoying spin with the acceleration in SWTOR and I set the max pre-rendered frames to 1 and it solved it. Amazing.

When I get home from work I am going to try to mess with the anti-aliasing as that is the last thing driving me nuts about the graphics quality

Hmm, core parking is news to me, never thought to check that. Thanks a lot, I'm going to dig into that too!

I can confirm that on my i5-3550/Radeon HD7750@2GBDDR500, FPS is increased by 10-20 frames on fleet by enabling Vsync and triple buffering for D3D using RadeonPro. Haven't tried any of the other stuff yet, like core parking and SWTOR Unleashed. Furthermore, when the FPS is lagging, my CPU and GPU utilization are both low, indicating the bottleneck is somewhere else (network latency, media streaming?) than the CPU and GPU. Might try SWTOR Unleashed later on, since I have 16GB of memory.

I'd like to throw in a bit of a bug.

On Windows 8, if you enable Launcher.exe to run in Compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP3) then the launcher will bug out but still be usable. Basically the launcher will look like it is frozen until you click on it, if you type you wont see anything being typed until you click. Just disabled the compatibility mode for the launcher and it works fine now, I do have the mode still enabled for swtor.exe and it seems fine.

Just a note for anyone with Windows 8!

I inspected my CPU and as I've seen on the Resource Monitor, all the cores seemed to be unparked, so that one went out of window for me.

Then I installed Unleashed, but again, there were no visible improvements, so I dismissed that too.

Even if I disable shadows completely or set all things to low, FPS drops like hammer occasionally. I have installed the latest drivers from Nvidia too, 320.something. After those attempts at The Old Republic, I went for BF3 again, everything on Ultra and stuff. Smooth as silk, on a 32v32 match. After that Far Cry 3, and again everything on Ultra, working like a dream.

I don't really know what's going on with this but it's pretty discouraging.

Yeah, I'd done all except Windows Search Indexing (didn't even know that was a source vacuum, eheh.)

Anyways, I think it's time I face the fact this is the most I'll get for now, thanks a lot for your ideas. You're like a secret mod, BW should hire you

Hi,

Did you get any improvement with the 2.2 Patch?

Thanks.

That's great to hear and SWTOR unleashed will help you out allot some getting some of dips in fleet or in PvP as it helps to render things faster and 16gb of ram will work wonders.
