Doh - there is a reason it doesn't work , that is for win 8 only, UncleSam was running win 8

Try a clean boot to see if it helps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

P.S. thanks for help everyone.
Your problem is your laptop does not meet the minimum specs to play the game.

Strictly true but he should be able to turn off settings and still run albeit not ideally gfx wise, it certainly still could be a factor though.

If it isn't kicking up a C7 error on the CPU I wouldn't think 3mb video ram short on dedicated memory wouldn't be a major deal on the video card, I have seen Intel video with 64mb able to play (not very well though)

or did I miss something

im sorry im not terribly computer savvy. What does my computer come up short in? I have a HP dv7-1245dx. I know its not a gaming computer but its a quad core with a decent graphics and video card. As far as my limited understanding goes. Is it the ram?
Again I know i sound like a broken record but thanks for the help guys/gals

Too me it should still be able to run but to get good performance a lot will likely have to be turned off.

Like what? Ive reduced graphics in game to very low setting or are we talking about background programs?

If i do need a new computer do you guys have any suggestions as to the brand and model? I dont feel very comfortable with building my own. I would prefer to go with a tower this time this desktop replcement overheats way too quickly.

You can try booting up on a clean boot to try and squeeze what you can,
also if your playing in window mode if you modify the shortcut to disable desktop composition and visual themes it may help with FPS.

But there will be only so much you can get out of your laptop I am afraid.

If you can reduce the shared memory in the bios that would help, this is halving your 4Gb ram
Shared Memory: 1662 MB not sure if you can on the HP
