I will disagree with this comment. I learn quite a bit about learning how to play my character while I was leveling. I learned which abilities work for which type of bosses so you do learn how to play your character while leveling.

Consular is the class.

Shadow vs. Sage is a modifier on class. Just like whatever the fark the names are for the Paladin specs are modifiers on Paladin.

If all you got is semantics, your case is really weak.
Sage and Shadow are the class. Consular is the parent class. And no, this is not ''all I got''. This is just all you chose to answer.

Trees yes, but they are still Paladins. As I said, I am actually against out of tree respecing as well, but that fight is long lost.

I am happy that there will be a renewed focus on story, I love story, its why I picked this MMO. But I picked an MMO, not an episodic single player RPG that I have to pay a subscription to receive the episodes.

there are 4 classes on each side, each class has an advanced class, this gives the sense of 8 classes per side. It really makes no difference if you call them classes or advanced classes at all, the only change here is for what SWTOR calls its advanced class, which means you can swap from your current AC to the other offered to you at level 10. So to be clear, no one cares what we call it, it is as clearly defined and understood by everyone. It makes no difference to the argument for or against.

IMO a full class respec is not something I would personally be interested in and I can see it being quite tricky with companions etc plus it does mean missing on the story, which is after all one of the stronger aspects of the levelling game, but if BW want to put it into the game because someone else wants it then fine, it's not going to negatively impact me in any way. If you think it will impact you then please explain how.

What's the rest of what you got?

Learning the role while leveling up? What about the player who levels as the DPS talents but swtiches to the Tank or Healer talents at 50 and unleashes themselves upon group finder? Same issue as if they went from tank to healer or vice-versa, right? Why aren't you railing against talent resets?

Let's see...

Umm... "lazy"? If they've already leveled the character and they don't like their role, why not let them change it? What harm does it do to you? The answer can only be "none", or at least "no more than them switching from DPS to tank and me being in their first group finder group".

"Devs don't want it?" I don't think they developers ever said they didn't want it. I was there in game test. I recall them saying it would be hard technically and challenging for the players to figure out. I do not recall them saying they didn't want people to have the flexibility. Quotes in this thread seem like they wouldn't have minded so much if the tech weren't so tricky and they could count on the players to be a bit smarter.

What else?

"Oh no one of our healers can't make it to our raid tonight. Quick, Gunslinger, change into a Scoundrel. Oh you aren't willing, that's OK, we will just recruit someone else who is."

And what about the fact that only two of the class pairs can be all three roles? What happens to the other two class pairs? Why would anyone want to be a JK/SW or IA/Smug when they could be a SI/JC or a BH/Troop and have access to all three roles instead of just two?
Also you continue to ignore the fact that I keep saying I am against out of tree respecs in general.

fair enough but imo you don't learn very much about group dynamics v's end game, you do learn more class play for PvP but again its not something that is going to take long to become familiar with if you swapped.

Maybe an AC changer needs to have 'L'earner plates stuck on their nametag

Leveling with your companion becomes a mini group that lets you learn your role. Your companion heals while you tank, your companion tanks while you heal, etc.

Oh, by your sig it seems like you're a hardcore player. Are you the sort who thinks since he's willing to put in "work", you think every player should have to "work" too?

There is harm, in the form of lack of gating control to content, to players who put in a lot of "work" if casuals don't have to work so hard for things.

But that's not who MMOs that like money cater to. There are a lot more casuals out there than workers.

Cute. You don't have an answer for me so you resort to attacking what you perceive as my character based on limited information given in my sig.

You know what they say about assuming.
