Think theres a lot of us out there still a little sore about this issue to be honest. Lost my mains name ( 5O Marauder ) to a fresh toon whom has since disappeared leaving it attached to a lvl 30 toon that is no longer played. thats friggin infuriating

That person just might come back and play that character some day. I'm not aware of any MMO that goes "well this character hasn't been touched in _____ amount of time, so we're going to open that up to someone else."

Bioware should do what WoW does, you can petition Blizzard to give you a name that was taken IF the person has been inactive for a certain amount of time..... And if that person comes back then they just have to rename their toon....

I would say if someone has been inactive for 6 months they should lose their name if someone else wants it.
F2P is like driving on a long stretch of highway with toll booths every 1/2 mile

So people dont agree with you. Big woop, grow the hell up.

And Bane? OH MY GOD. Did you think of that yourself?
Its not a "Cool" name. Its already been done, thought of and worked through.

Wanna talk about "Cool" names?
I had America for my trooper, thats right. "Captain" America.
Scully was my IA. You guessed it, "Agent" Scully.
I had a Character size 4 Guardian. Completely green Twi, called "Hulk".

These are just a number of names with characters that were all between levels 40-50 when i stopped playing just after server merges.
Your "Placeholders" were all pre level 10

And honestly, im coming from where you came from.
Part of the reason i preordered was to try to get hold of names for toons.
Some like the ones above that were a bit funny, one was just my first name. Another was the name ive been known through every MMO ive ever played.

Then less than a year later after having made these characters, i was moved servers and had to rename them all (Minus my main one).
Was i upset? Yes.
Did i understand why the servers had to merge? Yes.

I'd much rather a game full of people than being sat on my own in my own little server going "Oooo, Look at my pretty names".

And as people have said, if you preordered this game just to preserve names. Issues man. Issues.
I'd like to send you a 7 page fax right now, and the first page would just have a big "F" on it. First of all, you don't know anything. That screenshot was taken when my first character hit 50. I level up fast and I was looking forward to leveling each and every one of them. Placeholders? What a concept. I tailored each and every one of my characters, except I made the mistake of making a Guardian and a Sith Warrior before I knew they were actually clones, as pathetic as that is. It's not like they tell you in the character creation. Once I realized, I wanted to reroll my Sith Warrior into a Marauder so that I could try the "other" advanced class, and that's when I lose Bane... becaue Bioware lied to me. Did you not quite understand the point of this thread?

Bioware did not lie to you, nor did they screw you over. Anytime there is a server merge there is always the chance of losing a character name or two, or eight. You should have been better prepared by coming up with other names just in case you had to change any.

What happened with the last you tried to keep sucks, but that kind of things happens a lot in life. People make mistakes. BW did not intentially lie. They made a mistake. Come up with a new name and move on or unsub. We all knew the merges were coming. I was worried I might lose a few names, so I was prepared to change them with names I was sure nobody else would have used. I was lucky, I didn't have to change a single letter. I was ready to do so if need be, however.

So they were placeholders?
You just admitted that you leveled up to 50 on your first account and had ALL those names ready.

Thats the definition of placeholders.

Once again, its not biowares fault but yours.
From what you said in the OP, you asked them whether deleting a name and then remaking the character and the name would be available.

They confirmed this, which is true.
The issue you have is that they have banned certain names which they are not alllowed to use contractually.
Such as unoriginal names that plagiarize the SW universe. Like Bane. Or Skywalker. Or Solo.

Names they are not copyrighted to use, or allow to use.
Ive just deleted one of my champions with a name, just recreated another one 20 seconds later with the exact same name.

Maybe if you werent so rude to the support, which by the sounds of what you have said to people in this thread, you obviously were. Someone obviously hasnt taught you any manners whatsoever.

I still cant believe you're moaning that you cant name your sith "Bane".
Such a pitiful thing to moan about.

Oh blablabla, better names, bla. As with most people responding to this thread, you completely fail to realize the point of it.

WHEN CUSTOMER SERVICE TELLS YOU SOMTHING THAT CAUSES YOU TO DELETE A CHARACTER, WHICH IN TURN CAUSES YOU TO LOSE YOUR NAME PERMANENTLY WITHOUT ANY CHANCE OF GETTING IT BACK... YOU GOT SCREWED OVER BY A LIE! BEFORE YOU MAKE AN EVEN BIGGER *** OF YOURSELF, READ THE WHOLE THREAD AND NOT JUST THE ORIGINAL POST BEFORE YOU SIMPLY PUT IN YOUR 2 CENTS AND A HOLLOW, POINTLESS OPPIONION!

No, I wouldn't want either of those names. I much prefer coming up with my own names rather then using overly used and unimaginative names. I never resort to using commonly overused names when making new characters for mmorpgs or rpgs in general.

HOLY CHRIST.
THEY DID NOT LIE.

Ive just deleted a character myself and made another with the same name.
Absolutely NO PROBLEMS.

YOU GOT SCREWED BECAUSE YOU WERE USING A NAME THAT YOU WERE NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO USE.
Its like putting your name as "IHateJews" and then wondering "**** WHERES MY NAME".

Read the damn replies people are putting that are telling you why instead of dismissing them because they dont say "*********** BIOWARE ALL NEED TO DIE I AGREE WITH YOU COMPLETELY"
