HURRAY!
Ha! OP, there you have it. A little salt to the wound and a reminder - something yours is when you make it up, nobody will take that away from you.

Copyrighted names and all of their silly variations are not yours, no matter how long have you been playing and how much cash you thrown away for it.

If nothing else, perhaps some free cartel points as some form of "oops, our bad" compensation would be appropriate, I feel.

As a veteran player of RPG's, but video game driven and tabletop, I know how frustrating having to think up new names can be. That is why I always have respect for players with names that look/sound cool to say. However, one aspect of such a name is creativity. I honestly do not feel any of the names you call Epic are epic at all. The word for such incredibly obvious monikers is cliche.

A genuinely Epic names takes imagination and time to come up with. And of course, the opinion of the observer to declare such a name as epic.

One other thing, Bane, as in Darth Bane, is already an established character in Star Wars lore, and therefore it makes since that it would be a probibited name.

Maverick is Tom Cruise or Mel Gibson. Also appropriate to be prohibited
You hit the nail on the head with your first paragraph there.

Talking names, I could live with losing a couple of them, but Reaper was my main. I picked the name based on the fact that I personally loved the story in the Mass Effect games. I picked Doom because that's hilarious to me. Just say it out loud like you mean it... "Darth Doom!" It's kind of an inside joke between me and a RL buddy as well. I dunno about you, but I think "Maverick" is an awesome name for a smuggler. When I made my smuggler, the first thing that came to mind wasn't Han freaking Solo... it was "The Outlaw Maverick". I got the idea from the movie with Mel Gibson, but why's that a bad thing? Basically, I had a reason for picking all those names and I liked them. That's all that matters to me.

As I've said in previous replies to people, I had a sneaking suspicion that Bane might just be part of the Star Wars lore. The way I found was was that after moving my characters off the first server, I recreated all of them with the old names just incase I wanted to move back, and I got "invalid name" while trying tor remake "Bane". I then tried on other servers and I always got the same error message. This is the reason I contact customer service not once, but twice and then even had a chat with one of them after that, asking very carefully and explaining extremely thoroughly in crystal clear, perfect English... only to have my suspicions confirmed and a casual "oops, our bad" from the customer service representative.

Yeah I was pretty annoyed when I had to rename 7 of my 8 characters twice as I lost all of the names on both merges except for my one toon that is actually using a name of a SW char from the EU which I know is a violation of the ToS but they haven't told me I have to change it yet, pretty funny they enforce names from Batman comics but let me keep my char's name from their own EU.

And it matters way, way too much. When you become an adult, these "issues" won't seem so important to you. In the meantime, can you please... stop... crying? It's pathetic.

Uhm, yes... I'm crying myself asleep at night. I cry naked in the shower while screaming "nooo" just to wake up in the morning and then I cry all day. I even make up sad stuff in my head so that I can squirt some more tears for the cause. lol

Read my previous reply and move on.

It's just so pathetic when people leave replies like that one. You don't know me, and you have no idea how old I am, so take your "get back on the horse crap" and peddle it where someone's still naive enough to listen.

The reason I'm still replying in this thread is because people reply to me and then I reply to them. It's a forum thread, and this is how it works. Welcome to the interwebs, my friend.

Yeah, it seems they overlooked a bunch of names during the launch-phase of the game. I was actually told by Bioware that even though the name Bane was part of the SW lore, I would get to keep it since I created my character before it was on the prohibited list. And just like you, that was the only name I got to keep after the first move, probably because it was added to the prohibited list pretty early on and nobody took it on the other servers (or they weren't even level 20 or actively subscribing or somesuch).
