Exactly...very disappointing. But Bioware has never ever even attempted to make the community better/stronger. This just further widens the gap between players and creates undo havoc and drama. Guilds will be singled out, players will be called out, guild leaders will get nasty mails/whispers, faux alliances will be formed to farm...FFA =/= OPvP.

Gank, Grief, Rise and Repeat ... soooooo much fun ... do we need to bring back the grief and gank thread again?

Also, let it be known that you all are protected by the forum rules. We are not allowed to counter more strongly than this, yet all of your attempts to insite go unchecked. Well done forum griefing ... well done.
Doesn't matter if you asked for it specifically or not. WPVP is whats there. Your "classically" known world PVP is a myth on servers that have little faction balance so something needs to be done.

It's all out open world PVP. Everyone against everyone. No sides unless you want it. Either you have a group you trust, or you go in hoping things work out if for nothing but the fun of PVP. There doesn't need to be any consequences in that area since you can gain just as much rep. avoiding the entire area. There is no loss to content and those that want OPVP can have at it. Anyone they meet can be a target.

OPVP has always brought griefing that's why many wanted alternate paths to events like HK questing. Now we have that. Take a stab at the PVP portion and it's rewards OR stick solely to PVP or do both.

the only limit there is what you place on yourself. You don't like to be griefed, don't go to that area. Get the same reward by sticking in the PVE area.

and let it be known no one is worried about your forum rule siting or some snappy retort from you. Be sure to stay in bounds

No. That's FFA PvP. Not the same thing. PvPers always balance out PvP populations themselves. Imbalances in factional numbers self corrects itself given time. World PvP is not a myth. It's very easy to accomplish with very little work - incentive is all that's needed.

Well, this "event" is a colossal pain in the backside on Ilum, PvP griefing is continuous, I'm about ready to abandon it and write it off as a waste of time.

Why do they always give to the PVP crowd. So unfair. I don't want to spend hours trying to get a thing cause I get ganked over and over by idiots. I hate PVP. I play on a PVE server for a reason, so why do they keep forcing PVP sht on those that don't want it?

I'm disgusted.
This. I'm on a PvP server, which is even worse. I started playing with a group of people whom all left and normally I would never have chosen a PvP server myself.

Now I'm stranded until there are server transfers.

I think its amusing to see how Bioware is capable of irritating both pvers and pvpers with the same event. I swear they impliment changes in the worst possible ways with this game. A few simple changes could solve a lot of the frustration with this event.
Instead of insanely fast 10s respawn timers on mobs they could simple have made more nodes with more mobs that way players can kill what they need to, get their items, and finish their daily and get out without having to survive a chain respawning pack of mobs while fighting opposite faction.
Instead of 1 single pylon to drop off orbs at that requires a long channeling process and then has a CD lockout downtime that you have to wait for before turning in again they could have multiple pylons to turn in at with a shorter channeling time or simply being able to run over the pylon to charge. Also instead of making that area operations free or FFA pvp they could simply make it faction vs faction or they could make it so operations could be formed so you don't end up accidentally aoeing your buddy that couldnt get in group because you could only have 4.
It just seems like bioware didn't think how a typical player would react to all this stuff. I mean it looks good on paper but not in practice. They really should have tested this out on PTR with actual players that could provide feedback so this stuff could have been fixed in advance.
I am praying for a patch in the next couple of days to make the appropriate fixes so this event can be enjoyable instead of frustrating.

Tux...have you been out there yet? I paid a visit to Ilum during lunch and it was a complete blast. Only had time to check out the central pylon area. Had 3 really good fights, killed about 20+ Pubs in total with some guildmates. Finished two quests and got some Gree Rep. That was in less than an hour's time.

Can't wait to do more tonight.

For those who only want the PVE experience for this event, it shouldn't be a problem. Don't pick up the PVP missions from the terminal and you won't have any tempting map icons beckoning you into dangerous territory. I also suspect that the old AOE/flagging trick might not work anymore, but I'm not sure.

I don't PVP, and I just completed the PVE missions on two characters--once solo, and once while grouped with someone who was already flagged. While grouped, some imps even helped us defeat one of our targets with what looked like an AOE attack (I'm not super familiar with impside abilities), and I did not get flagged. Heck, the person I was grouped with even attacked some flagged imps while we were grouped, and I just stood to the side, unflagged.

There were some imps hanging out near me while I was playing solo who seemed as if they wanted to flag me by way of an AOE trick, but I did not use any AOE attacks, which is something I've gotten into the habit of paying attention to so as to not break CC. I didn't get flagged in any case, and I played in that area for many hours today.

Long story short: it's not terrible for those who only want to PVE, and I say this as someone who was worried that it would be!
