I've recently bought "the old republic: Revan" and "deception" book and read the lost tribe series a couple of days previously. I know that the Revan book talks about Revan and his story but my question is, should I play kotor 1+2 before, after or between the books? or do I have to replay them again to get the story line? I haven't played the games in such a long time that I cannot remember the story at all but I do know he's involved.
just for reference I'm trying to read about the eu from start to finish following this list.

I think Revan the novel takes place before and after the games.

The bulk of it is after the games. If you plan on replaying the games, do that first and then read Revan for it to make the most sense. It does fill in the games' plot to a decent amount in the narrative though, so don't feel compelled to replay the games if you don't want to.

I've noticed the best and only way to rate Stawa EU books is wether or not they are so bad you can't be arsed to read through them. Since I kinda liked his Mass Effect books well enough, I was little surpsised to notice all Karpyshyn's StaWa books kinda fail to reach this boundary, I've..sampled two or three by him and thought them all absolutely terrible.

Deceived on the other hand was excellent fan service I thought, warmly recommend it.

I'd strongly recommend this order:

1) KOTOR 1
2) KOTOR 2
3) Read Darth Revan
4) Play Old Republic
