When I started SWTOR I followed the same thing, old habits die hard I guess, and I created a male Trooper. However, once I joined my guild and started using voice chat with them, it was obvious I was female. Everyone in my guild has been cool and we have a couple of other girls in the guild as well.

We run a teamspeak server and recently put our photos as avatars for fun.

However, recently, we had a situation where we had a pug DPS join our OPs group because we were missing a dps. We invited him into TS and the second he noticed that I was a girl, I started getting tells from him almost right away. I have no idea how young/old he was, but I'm 26 and am not in the mood to have guys flirting with me over an MMO.

I also haven't seen anything like this in a while, nor heard of it, and figured it was a dying thing with mmos where guys have finally realised that "yeah, girls play too." But apparently not.
I think I spotted your mistake. Your mistake was cropping out your Special Forces husband from the picture. Don't have a husband in Special Forces, you say? Then your mistake was not Photoshopping someone in Special Forces into the picture.
A classic sig that should not be lost:

Talking about being alpha males and all that ****, bull, your mothers are your alphas and when they tell you to sit up straight, you do it. I bet you punks still live with your mothers, then get all passive aggressive towards them and spew stupidity on the forums. Okay, I have to ask, your name a take on Euryale? just curious as it was the first thing that popped to mind

Always nice to see FFXI players (former or current) here. It was my first MMO, and I loved it to bits despite never actually making it to endgame with any classes.

And as a biological male who prefers playing female characters (in all games, mind you, including first-person ones) I know full well that players presumed to be female get treated differently. I also preferred playing healer, so I guess stereotypes made assumptions inevitable. I don't really care, though. Just like I don't care if that one photo I have on Facebook makes people thing I'm gay. How other people perceive my gender and/or sexuality is pretty doesn't really matter to me.

...I digress. No, a lot of guys aren't over this yet. And I would assume that there are yet more guys who aren't over it but have the good sense to keep their excitement (or whatever) to themselves. I'd suspect it's going to be like this until society stops enforcing the (oft self-fulfilling) stereotype that video games are primarily for boys.

People will probably keep hitting on each other for as long as there are people. I doubt they'll ever get over it.

Don't worry, though. Someday you'll look and sound old, and the types of people who are interested in you now won't even notice that you exist. This problem will take care of itself with time, so be patient!

Yeah I feel for you OP. It is funny to me because I am a male irl and sometimes I create female toons for the look. Or in SWTOR for their voice overs if the males are god awful. I have female toons that are super girly and wear trashy outfits and female toons that look like She-ra and wear full battle armor.

The second I join a group or a warzone on one of my feminine toons I will get a tell from some dude on my team hitting on me. I reply, I have a ***** and he stops. LOL
