How about this ( and i am sad and disappointed that I didn't see this suggestion sooner ) :

BW puts the event on the Western Shelf of Ilum without the PvP auto-flag

On a PvP server, people show up, stuff happens, people have fun, people get stuff

On a PvE server, people show up, stuff happens, people have fun, people get stuff.

In both instances, everyone is enjoying the event, getting stuff, having fun. On a PvP server, i would assume PvP would happen. On a PvE server, I assume the same. The people who like PvP on a PvE server could flag if they wanted and probably find others of the same mind set.

Everyone is still winning, no one is forced to do anything, people are happy, subscribers keep paying.

Any flaws in this?

NO one said SGR content should be at the top of the priority list, but eventually you have to get to the bottom of the list

Don't you need to toggle PvP flag to do PvP? It's hardly forcing if you just keep your flag turned off.

I think the point of 1.7 was they wanted world PvP to be the big new thing. Ilum world pvp was a failure from the start, and most of the pvp community wanted it revamped.

Still I'm holding off judgement until we get some hard facts about whats all going to be involved.

And short of there being a legacy lightsaber or other main hand weapons as rewards, I doubt I will take part in this lagfest be it PvP or PvE.

PvP zones which are on PvE servers auto flag you when you enter.

You have 2 PvP zones one being tat, and the other Ilum. Ilum being the one which had dailies and weekly pvp quests.

Ohh, I get that. and we do need to hold off for more information.

BW could be a bit less confusing about it being a PvP relaunch, or PvE stuff with the Giant Wampa that appears with the ads for it.

First, they may be introducing a new area or they may change the existing PVP area, that is true, we'll all find out soon.

Second, all the people calling out for PVE players to put on recruit gear are smacked in the head. Recruit gear is garbage. Any PVE player who is in at least Rakata is already doing better than what little bit recruit gives with its meager stats.

Third, all of this would nearly be a non-issue if the ridiculously divisive Expertise stat didn't exist in the first place. I have no problem getting jumped by another player if we are on fairly even terms and I have a chance to defend myself. Getting jumped by someone who deflects 30% of my damage and puts out 30% more of his own turns it so one-sided that it's only fun for the guy in PVP armor.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Expertise should be removed. It divides the player base, creates an unnecessary barrier for either side to cross over and causes elitism. Any PVP worth their salt and shure of their PVP talents would agree. All this garbage about not wanting end game PVE players to come in and beat them up is just that; garbage. Any person who calls themselves a PVP'er and says that should be ashamed, because what they are really saying is that it's the Expertise stat and not their skill and experience that is earning them kills.
I'd like to sit down with the guy responsible for having Busta Rhymes fight Michael Myers in HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION. Then, before he could speak, I would slap him so hard his face would explode and his dog would die." - Jim Law

Recruit gear isn't as bad as they all say. At least it's free now.

it's only free if you hit level 50 after they gave it out for free. if you never pvped before now and where here at launch you get nothing

Again, if it's PvE content in an auto-flagging PvP area, I'll skip it, but I will not be happy about it.
If it's how it is in other games you shouldn't.. It should be for PvP.

Unless of course Bioware EA is simply giving up on RvR in SWTOR and making Ilum PvE only.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?
