Again, I don't know why that's so difficult to grasp.
No. You can do either activity on either server type. I assure you, I'm 100% accurate in that fact. Some players do BOTH! I do. People aren't pigeonholed into only doing 1 or the other...did you think you were???

Seems odd to make another scaling system pvp-exclusive however, you already have a ranking system for pvp.
Heck no! I want exclusive speeders and fancy pets for PvP...maybe even PvP exclusive companions. It's only fair tbh.

They could add these things to the existing pvp ranking system and vendors.

CAUTION: DO NOT LOAD SWTOR UNLESS YOU HAVE AFTER-MARKET COOLING INSTALLED!!

I agree also, it's insanity to force pve'ers into pvp for getting an item in an event. Especially on a PVE designated server. That's why pve'ers are in the PVE server, because that is their preferred mode of game play. PVPers and ganker scum can go play on the PVP server, cause that's what they like. Forcing people to do things they don't care for in a game, where u can choose the server you go to, for what you prefer is stupid.

Horrible idea. Most PVE can easily be done in top tier PVP gear, so, as a PVPer, you can still experience both. If I have full dread guard and join a WZ, I'll still get murdered thanks to expertise.

If they want to force PVP on PVE players and give PVP exclusive rewards, they should ditch expertise and even the playing field for all.

You're over dramatizing. Nobody has said you'll be forced to do anything.

Ilum is the PvP update. Don't like it, don't go there. Nuff said.

Would you be ok if they made you do 5 PVE dailies each day before you could do any PVP? Because that's the same thing. I shouldn't be forced to PVP so I can complete some PVE dailies to garner rep.

First - they're not forcing you. In fact, Ilum is a **edit** to get to...you don't accidentally go there.

Second - full dread guard gear is far better than you give it credit for being. I've got 3 guildies who PvP in PvE gear with under 300 expertise...one is a healer, one is DPS and the other is a tank. They swear by the bigger numbers.

I don't have too much to say to add to this. But I do have a simple thing to point out about those saying it's a PvP event because it's in a PvP area. PvE gear isn't required to run the content for gear which the only fact we can assume now is that it's event specific shells. In the Grand Acquisitions Race PvP players could get the items just the same as PvE players, anyone still with Battlemaster gear is roughly comparable to a Columi geared player. Likewise Recruit gear is a bit weak, but on-par with Tioneese. Given anyone subscribed gets free sets of either the PvP argument only favors the PvP players, because Usually someone in recruit gear will almost always loose to 1 War Hero player within moments, sometimes even 3 on 1 odds of recruit gear vs War Hero aren't enough depending on the roll of the dice.

So if the gear is 'PvP' exclusive then why does it have to be as such when a PvP player could usually find any PvE event content possible given the past two have been scaled to Tioneese/Columi which a PvP player easily can match. On a PvP server the fighting is to be expected, and players should be prepared for it. On a PvE server there are players who are PvP ready, but on average it's somewhere between 1/4 and 1/16 just going by numbers. Referring back to my earlier subject, PvE geared players will be food for those who wish to greif, or those who just want to otherwise cause problems.

Also I should mention/remind people that Ilum was faction based PvP unlike the outlaw's den FFA. So it's going to be one faction (Usually Imperial given server balance) getting a horde of players to grief those after the event. That isn't the best players getting the event done so much as whatever side has the larger number of players.

Obviously I'm guessing at just what's going to go on from what details they've shown us in the article on the matter, but usually a lack of information on if something is going to change, in my own experience at least, leads me to assume that it will stay as is, meaning the event will at least partially be in a PvP area.

I'm not opposed to a PvP event, I don't mind PvP when it at least has a chance of being fair. As it stands from my old experience I'd assume my imperial character will have no trouble with this event, everyone being buddy buddy to gang up on the pubs, while my friends pub side are going to get greifed over and over. Though it could surprise me if it's PvP is Free for All and come down to who's horde is bigger, better organized, and better geared such as went on in outlaw's den.
