What historical person would have made a glorious Jedi? Which a glorious Sith?

Yeah, that's true Someone mentioned they were more like Mandalore the Ultimate, and they were right in that imo!

caius julius caesar (he was so damn epic,he is my hero) would be THE dark lord,he conquered the Gallia (he even starved to death a whole village) and managed to gain Rome even against great odds,his power hunger and stregth would make him a great sith but he would still work for the best for his people.

Mandalore Saladin, now that one would have won the Mandalorian War.

If you look over the fact that they were founded by crusaders, the Knight Templars and other monastic military orders were the Jedi material you are looking for. They swore vows of poverty, chastity, piety, and obedience. So we've got poeple:

-who form an order
-who try to protect others (the Templars were founded to protect pilgrims)
-who fight in wars
-who put a strong emphasis on spirituality and live a monastic life
-have high ideals

= knight-monks like the Jedi

The same is true for the Shaolin monks and other warrior monks.

The Shaolin Monastery is more like the Jedi Order than the Knight Templars.As far as teachings - both spiritual and physical goes.And using them in practice.At that last part the Knight Templars failed badly.

-pacifist warrior monks
-while fighting and training they are in a meditative state
-use ''the light side of the force''(chi) to achieve super human feats like breaking rocks,walls,ect with hands
-the process of training is a meditation in itself,used to achieve goals as they are described in buddhism
(remember Freedon Nadd's master- how she was training lightsaber combat)
-their world view and philosophy
-ect...

Your referring to myths not facts, Saladin's armies slaughtered thousands and it was holy war. The Crusades started in response to an Islamic war of conquest that spanned 5000 miles as far as Spain (started 1 year after muhammed's death well before Saladins time). Saladin then rose in response to them and when he retook Jerusalem the only reason Saladin spared the citizens was because they were of greater value to him alive, not for some moral reason, read his own journal to see this. He was disgruntled when talked out of slaughtering them, but history favours the winners and he was happy to let people believe he took the moral high ground. Richard then rose for the third crusade, got to the gates of Jerusalem and decided enough was enough and his armies withdrew. He and Saladin then agreeing on peace.

Both were great military commanders, genius', they were obsessed with each other and both would have made the greatest of Sith Lords. Both would have made great Jedi as well though, if you read much more of their
(and others) journals, and taking into account the age in which they lived.

EDIT: Also The Knights Templar were an order created to defend pilgrims travelling to the holy land, they are one of the major influences for the Jedi ideal.

Very true, but even better the Britsh Empire won the Battle of Endor (Trafalgar) a pivotal battle which decided who would dominate the world for centuries after!
