Star Wars Lore/Books

I'm interested in starting to read the books and such to learn more about the SW lore. (I totally enjoyed delving into the lore for LOTR, so am hoping to do the same here, to understand more about what I"m playing in-game) I'm just not sure what book to start with. Will playing the KOTOR games help too? There are so many books listed when I search on Kindle that I thought I would ask here before jumping in. Thanks for the help!

Find a timeline, and begin at the beginning.

Or just go to the Old Republic Era
