I don't remember ever hearing of an MMO expansion with leess impressive initial " this is why you wanna buy it!!" pitch. I hope they have something to tell about it that has even theoretical change of making somebody exited.
This is pretty much what i thought when i found out about this. I'm not paying 8-10 bucks just for 5 new levels/one new area (which is practically the same thing).

Wow has a new patch out with a "new area", extra daily quests - not just a bunch of 4-5 quests but at least 15 of them enabled randomly, quests that advance the expansion's story and end up in an epic mount reward, new pve feature (brawler's guild), a new attempt at world pvp (dont know how well that's going yet but im willing to bet its better than the lagfest at illum), continuation of their *legendary* quest chain, multiple changes in classes in a continuous attempt to keep them balanced, lots of bug fixes and some extra mini-dungeons (scenarios). And all you have to do for that is stay subscribed.

Instead now EAware charges me for being able to play the game efficiently and requires that i pay extra for an expansion with 2 features. I have no reason to support this game any longer - it was fun while it lasted even though people expected so much more from this game.

Have fun, bb, and you can't have my stuff. They're fine as they are right now, taking up a few extra kilobytes of save space in EA's servers.

So I am paying a sub for a game that hasn`t fixed the issues that led to the mass exodus of players and it is only giving me new content via Cash Shop.. and now it also tries to sell me one planet for 10 $ ... wonder if a sub is warranted at this point....

Because, so far, subs only got more lag and more bugs....

With the announcement of the new digital expansion, I want to make a topic almost begging for BW/EA to make this something worth people getting behind. The story is imho, the only real stand out feature in this game and I think it's extremely important for them to deliver with this digital expansion and not give real fans a reason to point their finger accusing this of being a cash grab.

On that note, I also think it's important that we as a community support the expansion as best as we can and to keep the faith in BW. As said previously, the story is probably the best feature of the game and we as a community need to encourage them as much as possible to focus on that instead of them ending up forcing to release fluff content every month designed to sell Cartel Market items.

I'm also secretly hoping that the expansion will bring a proper endgame feel to the game and not be as dire as when the game first launched. Many of the people who initially quit done so because the end game was bad and was something done far better and more polished elsewhere. I feel that if this can be addressed as well as the content having that good ol Star Wars feel, then we could very well be onto a winner and might actually really breathe new life into the game.

I'm not saying the charge is good or bad atm, I'm going to wait and see what other info is released before I shell out for this.

The way I see it so far is, a new planet in SWTOR is kinda like a new zone in WoW, like adding The Barrens to Kalimdor. So I am concerned that it is going to be very limited and I am going to wait it out and see what happens.

I guess it will probably have to go F2P eventually anyways right?

Depressing to see Bioware & EA still have no clue how to run TOR. Spring 2013? Charged? Not available via Cartel Coins? For one planet?

So much for the 'we have tons of content all ready to go' that was the tagline just after launch. If you count Operations & Flashpoints as content, then maybe, though I'm not even sure that'd qualify as 'tons'. Here's our first taste of actual content, and it still has no class story. It's in no way Chapter 4. Do they not grasp why people are playing TOR? Considering that they gave their biggest selling point, the 1-50 story, away for free, perhaps not.

You know how they started this as a fully voiced MMO with story as the fourth pillar? Yeah how many voice actors have you seen turn up in recent additions? How much story? It's all click-on-mission boxes or generic Huttese at best. Now that we get some voiced content, it costs over and above the subscription pricetag. Dumb as bricks. It's as though they have no clue when to charge and when to absorb it into subscription, or the effect on the game that decision has.

This isn't WoW. This isn't Apple. This isn't a franchise where you have a dumb captive market who'll pay anything for the next shiny no matter what it is because they're hooked on the brand. This is TOR; a game that is frankly struggling, needs people to be energised & excited about it, and needs a community that pulls together. Expansions automatically segment the population; they promote us vs them. TOR doesn't need more of that right now.

Why does EA try so hard to make people hate it? It's like it's a deliberate effort.
For 2000 Cartel Coins, a year-old game breaking bug may get fixed.
For $20, an epic death scene for your character is unlocked to end your overly expensive class story. Subscribers pay $10.

One panet and new level cap? ***.

i dont mind paying for any expanstion but i pvp 99% of time and rest of time i normally doing crafting.

i dont see anything for those of us into pvp, crafting etc.

Ill say it again i dont mind paying for new content but this content has nothing im excited about, a new planet to grind 5 levels that i hate since ill do my level 50-55 pvp as normal.

Come on BW thorw us pvpers a bone i n there also and ill click buy straight away.

This game honestly needs fixing, NOT expanding upon. Bugs that have exsisted since BETA are still present a full year on. The engine is WAY to unstable, There has been a Game breaking/really annoying bug in almost every expansion since F2P. All that WILL happen is More bugs, More hate for BW and in the end people will just be saying. "Thank god i only payed $10 for it". 1.5 saw Companions break completely, Unify colors are still broken, What are they going to break by adding a FULL expansion? Phasing? Leveling? I can already see how buggy the new planet will be.

But its ok, CS have that fine old saying "Thank you for your patience and Understanding" and think that makes it all better.

I'm also really hoping they get their act together with Makeb. This is the last € i give bioware, if Makeb is just a rehash of what's already ingame i'm gone.

I hate crappy endgame, wich unfortunately plagues most mmo's, i hate repeating content in a grind for gear, repeating fp's, ops and dailies ad naseum just feels (for me) dumb and useless.

I really really hope for a great story in Makeb and something fun to do while we wait for more good content (wich i haven't seen much in the last year, but that's me).
