Before SW:TOR release, the developers stated that we would have in-game holidays, but not ones rife with real world allusions like WoW. It's unfortunate that not only are we not getting those events, but real world references abound.
Yes very true RL events need to steered clear of to many relidgions and different countrys views out there to accomidate everyone, however events in the star wars lore have nothing to do with real world events and there is no reason they shouldnt be ingame.

HUGE fail imho.

Very upset about the lack of effort from bioware for the life day holiday and the 1yr anniversary

Bioware got to admit this is rubbish, for months people asked for life day and everyone kept saying, na it's not going to happen.

Then you bring life day but in the form of a cheap "get more money" out of them tact. So far all I can see in terms of in game items is all effort being put into cartel market and nothing else. The last in game armour set was a rehash of the previous one but in a different colour. Cartel market on the other hand gets nice detailed armour with different designs.

Don't get too greedy now Bioware by keep all the good stuff for cartel market, so subs need to pay more money again to get anything good.

Also as everyone else said Life day is a holiday event not a cartel only one off special. Please add more to community other than more ways to make a buck.

Life Day should be in game.

Christmas (and the associated lights, snow and colours) is not Life Day, and should not be in game.

Christmas is in-game under the misguided label of Life Day.

The actual Life Day is not featured.

GW2 has cash shop items and the event to go with it which is a good way to go i think.

SWG had some good star wars events which i like, if its in the lore im good with it, my problem comes if things are lore breaking aka the SWG ewok festival of love with people running round in cupid wings with choclate fountains of ewoks :s that i didnt like it was lore breaking. Events are good tied in with the lore and the life day is a big event in the star wars universe (specially for our furry kashyyk friends). The speeder they have put in for life day or whatever they wana call it is lorebreaking for me, it has nothing to do with life day it is a red speeder with christmas tree lights hung round it.

I dont care if they have orbs speeders whatever in the Cartel market i really dont but put some fluff in for events ingame also not all in the cash store.

I think this is something we need to agree to disagree on we both have very different strong views on the subject and i hope its not viewed as a argument because i have not seen it as one.

ps. i saw the mm me me comment, i wont comment on the BJ signiture
Personally, I would have been fine if they didn't even put the Life Day stuff in the game at all. The fact that George allowed it to become canon was just one of several asinine decisions he made (imho). I would have been perfectly fine with the game going about it's business without nary a mention of any Holidays or Anniversary Celebrations. The fact that every other game does one probably reinforced that feeling with me - a been there done that several times type of feeling. Each one is different for each game, but all end up feeling meh and obligatory in short order which (for me) takes more away than it enhances the moment.

I actually thought the Devs said that nothing relating to real world holidays were planned, and that if they had holidays it would be relevant to the universe/lore, but don't remember them saying it was a guarantee to be in, either. Just something that may come to pass if they felt like doing it (and got the necessary approval).

I don't view it as an argument, either, but an entertaining topic of discussion, and I wasn't commenting on your sig - I was making a comment on the poster who claimed to have inside info on the SSSP.

I'm cancelling sub due to the fact that they put something completely optional in the game, and didn't just give it to me outright!

</sarcasm>

Grow up people.

Your memory serves you well. While they didn't say "We promise" or "We guarantee" regarding holiday events, they did state that they would be coming. Life Day was specifically references. And I agree - if we're just getting a half-hearted Christmas offering with the "Life Day" misapplied, I'd rather get nothing at all. Heck, you'd think if they were going to apply all these unnecessary allusions to Christmas, they could at least get into the spirit of giving.

Also, the worst part is that Life Day isn't even the Star Wars version of Christmas - it's equivalent is Thanksgiving.

I have 4 months left and I wish it was shorter. I don't really like the direction this game is going. I'm sick of seeing all the dumb f2p items floating around the fleet, doesn't matter if I buy them or not I still have to see them. It's a little immersion breaking seeing all the f2p gadgets and silly items all about (as ironic as that sounds in a star wars game)

due to all this backlash, they probably will:
a) lower prices
b) make the stuff available at certain vendors
